The travels of Brammers, part 4b

Made it to my friend's place near Brixton, a mere 20 minute walk with large suitcase from the station. Memo to self: when your brain says 'No, I'll tube to Brixton and cab to your house is a bad idea', it is because it is, on a deep level, remembering the fact there are no cabs to be had in Brixton.

Still, I made it through the rabbit warren of poorly signed streets to where I was meant to be! And people were very encouraging with their directions, if not actually helpful (I was going somewhere odd).

A lovely young lass offered to help me with my bag at the stairs when I changed at Green Park, I laughed and said thank you, but it was so heavy I would rather just damage myself, then a big strapping lad appeared and carried it for me. I told him he had restored my faith in British men, he assured me he regularly did so and was thinking of putting it on his CV as an attribute.

Also, I have worked out why, moral imperatives aside, the British are committed to prosecuting the war in Afghanistan. £49 cashmere cardies at M&S -- ridiculous!

Hey, darling. I have been following your adventures with much envy. Please be careful, I have it on good authority that the slash dragon lives underneath a pub in Brixton (The Dragon's Knob ... hehehe).

Are there still big, strapping British lads around? This is good to hear.

So, cashmere cardies for all for Christmas, huh? I'm an XXL. ;)

*smooches you*

If I had more cash, it completely would be!

I'll be back there on Monday, so I will keep an eye out. And yes, he was very nice. Met another one today, my fave breed.

Well, if you can't afford cardies, can you bring me home a Bradley James? He's not busy till March, so he should be going cheap, right?

After all, if you're going to go around picking up strapping British lads, you could do a friend a favour and bring her home one to order. I will be very grateful. :D

Australia is missing you.

I believe that any Bradley Jameses I brought home would be soiled, and he seems a nice lad and doesn't deserve such a fate ...

I am missing many people in Australia. The brown and the weather, not quite as much.

In case you were curious (and why wouldn't you be, oh ye in the land of green and wet) Toowoomba recorded its HIGHEST EVER December day on record today - 38 deg and 39 at Ipswich. My mum actually had a complete brain fart in the heat today and thought she'd left her BBQ chicken in the shopping trolley at the supermarket in Beaudesert, and then realised later when she got around to putting her groceries away that it was in the shopping bag. We've barely achieved higher than 23 this week, and are set to hit 35 by Wednesday/Thursday. DNW

I think he's a very nice lad. *sigh* Sometimes it sucks to be old; I just end up feeling like one of those women on a US soap opera - sleazy and perverted.
