Melted ...

It is 27 degrees Celcius (just over 80F) and nearly midnight. It has been like this all week. Everyone in Sydney has taken to apologising at the start of every sentence because we are too melty to brain. It's at least bonding us all together in thickitude.

Which is also my excuse for forgetting to with the lovely [livejournal.com profile] morien_san  a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY for yesterday. However I am just in time here to pass on the same wishes for today to [livejournal.com profile] 1strangebird  -- I hope this year is working out as you wanted it to. Here's to lovely days for the both of you, including visits from the present fairy!

I received a parcel from [livejournal.com profile] calanthe_fics  today for my own Festival of Birthday -- gorgeous knits and Moomins! She knows me so well! I'm so privileged in my friends!

You could try doing what I did one January; leave Melbourne with a temperature on the tarmac of 40C; arrive Toronto 24 hours later where the temperature was -25C.

Actually a mate of mine use to do that every day. He worked at the Polaris mine and it was not unusual for the temperature in the mine to reach 35C while, in winter, the surface temperature sometimes dropped to -40C.

OUCH! I've done the 0 London to 35 Sydney switch quite a few times over Christmas and New Year, but I try not to be more extreme than that. Canada in winter is just showing off. Though I would happily average our temps at the moment!
