It's well and truly the 14th in the US today. Which means that  heathen_arcade  has deleted her journal.

I know that she is going off to do big girl and sensible things and to be a staggering success at them, but I miss her already. She was one -- along with red_rahl -- of the two fandom artists who could always make me laugh at the same time as making me see things in new and deeper ways. I have other art friends who are absolutely brilliant, but her work (and rahl's) made me laugh in more personal ways due to my own comedic tendencies. And she hooked me up with the world's most addictive shoe manufacturer.

Good bye and good luck, Heathen! Not that you need it, as you have talent and application. But I hope your path is easy and goes where you want it to.

And red_rahl , don't even think about going anywhere! I need a good artistic laugh now and then!

These and a dozen other observations led Lanier to conclude that something had gone terribly wrong: that we had reached a point where the network was being exalted as far more important than any individual. It is a thesis he explores in his book You Are Not a Gadget: A Manifesto.
