What the?!

Watching a documentary in which a person mentions cake.
Mr Brammers: Ooh, cake! Would you like a cake tomorrow? I might bake one. I really enjoy baking cake, and I haven't made one for ages.

Mr Brammers: Why are you looking at me like that?
Me: We have been together for OVER SIXTEEN YEARS and this is the first I have heard of this!

Seriously, he has made out that producing toast is something of a trial. If I come home tomorrow and there is a perfect Victoria sponge, I may weep – equal parts delight and frustration.

Sixteen years is a VERY LONG TIME to hide cake-making skillz. I feel he should make one every week for the next sixteen years to compensate.

Sixteen years is pretty long time to go without baking if you enjoy it... I hope you get an edible cake out of this :)

I'm not sure what to hope for here, there will be weeping either way it seems. ;)

Am reminded of my aunt's trials with 3 teenage boys, each with 2 teenage male best friends who would come over after school; she still claims 9 teenage boys are collectively known as a locust plague. Microwaveable packet cake was her friend; I distinctly remember them having one pantry cupboard full of food and a second stocked only with packets of cake mix, which would be restocked weekly.

I am reminded of this because my cousins still boast of their cake making skills, based on 8 years of this.

Perhaps you ought to think about the possibility that he's been switched with an alternate-dimension counterpart without anyone noticing?

I am blessed with a husband who makes a fabulous cake every year for my birthday. I hope yours was good!

Having a husband who's a professional chef, I get to make the cake! He 'likes a rest now and then' so baked goods (with the exception of his knockout mince pies and sausage rolls) are my purview.

My man baked us chocolate chip cookies this week - except I don't like nuts in my CC cookies, and he likes them soft and cakey while I like them crisp. I smiled and thanked him and gobbled them up (they're COOKIES, after all!!!).
