OK, *looks around to make sure no one else is watching*, I've been thinking long and hard on this, because I know what happened in detail, while Scorpius only knows in vague generalities, and I keep wanting to tell the reader, but Draco really, really doesn't want Scorpius to know.

So I was a bit trapped. But then I realised that there will be some readers who can guess what's in my head, and some who can come up with their own lists of possibilities, and some who will look to Canon and say "Perhaps the reason that Draco lives through the battle is that he does act, just out of Harry's POV" and that all of those readings can be narratively satisfying.

So then I stopped worrying so much. And made notes for my AU Harry/Draco fic set over the same timeline as Book Seven.
