Amusing, and sad

Was reading Ring for Jeeves the other day and burst out laughing. Colonel Aubrey Wyvern's third-rate domestic staff are named Trelawny and Bulstrode.

Also, Happy Birthday [personal profile] raitala! And happy birthday for tomorrow, [personal profile] draykonis.

In sad news, Min cat is now out of chances and is living out her last weeks with all the salmon she can fit in.  The lovely vet assistant from the uber vet dropped round her pain meds this evening. She doesn't need them tonight, but it's good to have them. Poor brave kitty.

I wish there was something *I* could do. We even bought lottery tickets in a bid to suddenly have limitless funds. But the truth of the matter is there's not really anything that can be done except provide comfort and amusement for her Minness. In terms of pure maths, she would probably have been put down or died of being outdoors years ago if it wasn't for us, so she's done well by the whole experience, but rationalising isn't quite as comforting as it could be.

The thoughts and support are, on the other hand, supportive. J cannot believe that there are people on four continents wishing the cat well. Min assumes it is her due.

After all the pampering she has received since falling ill, an immortal Min would be insufferable. She would sit on us and demand salmon at 4am every morning. And we'd be so happy she was alive, we would get it for her, thus hastening our own demises!

But we will raise a glass in her memory. She really has become a part of the family like few other pets.

Thanks, dear. We are consoling ourselves with exactly that thought. She is enjoying the salmon hugely, and considers it about time that the menu looked up around here.

She is boundy as a boundy thing, and quite cheered at both the fact she is no longer told off for squashing plants, and that every meal is now salmon. She seems to be wondering why we didn't have these rules before, since this is clearly the Right and Proper Way.

Thanks for the hugs, they are buoying.

Yeah, we were hoping for one of the options, too. Asthma kitty would have been fine! But she is having a lovely week and sleeping on our bellies and licking our chins when she wants attention in the middle of the night. I will pass on your hug in the form of chin scratches, as she loves those.

Yes, at least we can say that we left no stone unturned, and that we are making her last days fun for her. It will hurt less, I think, to know that she had a good life here.

And just because I'm sad, it's no reason you shouldn't know that I value you and wish you a good birthday!

Oh dear. My sympathies to you and J. My guinea pig Gregor, who has an unnatural attraction to cats, also sends his sympathies I'm sure. Enjoy your remaining time with her, and make lots of happy memories to remember in future.

Your house is a place of wonder in my mental images of it. Thank Gregor, who sounds delightful. Min had another great day today and even scooted to the very top of her tower which she has not done in about a year. I succumbed and have let her play outside in the dark -- I think she is hoping for a last rat.

Watching Fry and Laurie in those roles, one can't help but to start slashing Jooster immediately.

An HP/Jooster pastiche would be awesome, but sadly Jooster = Snarry and I don't like Snarry D:
Snucius and Snaco wouldn't work as well.

*sends more Internet salmon*

Oh no. I am so very sorry. Please do pet up Min for me. Louie and all the Swabian cats of my parents say hi and that there's a cat heaven full of salmon and cream for her. *HUGS*

I gave Gregor a carrot in your name. He did his happy "jumping in the air whilst chirping" dance, which is his way of saying "you're welcome and thank you".

I am sure she will greatly enjoy that rat, which is of course her prerogative. Here is to Min! Queen of the Tower and Rat Catcher extraordinaire!
