Further to that hacking ...

I joined [livejournal.com profile] marmalade_fish  to check out updates on the hacking of [livejournal.com profile] sarahtales , and two important points were raised.

The first is that if you have [profile] sarahtales  friended, the hackers currently have access to all of your private posts. So it may be a good idea to defriend for a little while.  ETA, she's back, but you should still consider the fishies, it looks like a fun comm, too!

The second is that there is a suspicion the hacker is not an opportunistic Russian con artist, but someone from fandom acting malevolently. Given some of fandom's history, that does not seem as unlikely as we might hope. Why some people feel it's necessary to pour crap on those who add hard work to their talent in order to become successful is a mystery to me. Wankers, the lot of them.

but see, all of those things involve moving from their comfy spots in front of the computer screen, and interacting with real people and *doing* something. Useful. For someone else. (I'm not sure that a sex life would be a good thing -- I think it's better that people like that *not* breed.)

I am being charitable, and assuming that most of the wankers are high school or university students who are either stressed from the end of school or bored now that it's over (or perhaps parents of grade schoolers who now have the little darlin's home for the summer), but the "me-me-meeeee! who cares about the rights of the creator (unless it's my stuff)" drives me to despair as well....
