Oh sweet indeterminant deity ...

A lovely thing this afternoon: [livejournal.com profile] winstonmom sent me a postcard of cool! Actual cool, snow and all! THANK YOU! It's beautiful. Off tomorrow to what [livejournal.com profile] raitala has described as 'monsoons, but very chilly ones'. Sounds lovely.

Right, the list:

Acquire GBP so I do not have to get by with £2.17 in cash. DONE!

Travel Insurance. DONE!

Pay cat sitter the last $8 I owe her from the other week. NOT DONE, SHE'S IN ADELAIDE, BUGGER

Book London hotel for spare evening. EH, SOD IT, CAN DO THAT ON SUNDAY NIGHT, HOW HARD CAN IT BE TO FIND A GOOD ROOM FOR A TUESDAY?

Book Eurostar to Paris, and back to London. DAMN, SHOULD HAVE ALREADY DONE THIS. NEXT.

Buy last things for people who need Aussie things. WHY? WHY DO I FOOLISHLY DO THIS EVERY TIME? STILL, DONE!

Fix top and stitch new row of decorative braid to skirt. WHERE THE FUCK IS THAT BRAID?? ARGH!

Leave house tidy. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! EH, MR BRAMMERS CAN DO IT. (*LAUGHS MORE*)

Pack. BEGUN, AND CLOTHES ARE ALL CLEAN AND CO-ORDINATING, MIRACLE!

Repack when enormous quantity of Violet Crumble and [livejournal.com profile] pingrid 's boots means I have to decide between underpants and toiletries. FEARS WILL HAPPEN.

Arrange pick-up at airport. SORTED, BECAUSE MY OXFORD PEEPS ARE LOVELY.

Arrange fun things to do. ALSO SORTED, BECAUSE MY LONDON, COVENTRY, PARIS AND OSLO PEEPS ARE ALSO LOVELY.

Wonder what the fuck this 'peeps' business is. GIVES UP WONDERING, BRAIN HAS CLEARLY RETREATED INTO CORNER RATHER THAN FACE IMMENSE LIST OF JOBS FOR NEXT 24 HOURS.

Sort wallets, paperwork and which books I actually need vs which ones I will just be carting around for effect. HALF DONE.

Wonder whether one pair of shoes is really enough? YES! YES IT IS! CLOSED-IN BIRKENSTOCKS AND ATTITUDE CAN CONQUER ANYTHING. PLUS I WANT TO BUY BOOTS IN LONDON. PERHAPS ALSO GALOSHES, DEPENDING ON MONSOON.

[livejournal.com profile] spark_of_chaos , I will either finish beta-ing your fic before I go or on the plane, sorry! Have emailed mods to let them know I am crap, while you are fab. Everyone I owe comments to, yes, I do. Eventually! Nail polishes are packed and will be posted in London. What have I forgotten?

When are you going to be in Paris? I'll be thereabouts during Christmas week.

I also volunteer to keep you informed about upcoming strikes - various unios are gearing up for the season.

What are you doing fart-arsing about on LJ?! Pack, good woman! Pack! Pack!

[identity profile] catsintheattic.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
Sort ... which books I actually need vs which ones I will just be carting around for effect.

I could have written this. Lol.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks darling! I have to say that I have been planning accordingly and have schedules that can be adapted to shift to ferries or planes if needed: a whole Paris itinerary that can be walked by a woman of decent fitness, and a Plan B to leave Europe via Germany if it all goes to pot ;-)

I'm there from the 15th to early on the 20th, any crossover? (Fingers crossed!)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
HEE! There are reasons we are friends ;-)

Lists make everything more achievable! And allow for ticking!

*snorts* My mother, packing for her six month jaunt around Europe, realised that if she packed all the books she neededd there would be no room for clothing, or toiletries, or indeed anything besides books.
She has bought herself a Kindle for Christmas

When this was going to be a two-month trip, my theory was that I would WRITE a novel. Alas, Mr Brammers is a piker.

[identity profile] auntpurl.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
Have a wonderful trip! It's sunny and beautiful in London today, after 40 days and 40 nights (no, I don't know how long it's actually been; what am I, a meteorologist?) of pouring rain.

Never buy boots at Monsoon, they have a terrible selection. Heh.

Send me an LJ message if you need anything while you're in LDN!

[identity profile] alienor77310.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
Alas, I won't get there before the 21st :-(

There's a strike warning for trains on the 13th... as well as for lorry drivers. With a little luck, you'll be able to avoid any inconvenience.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
AHAHAHAHA! Yes, you're quite right. I am currently inclined a little towards a Kurt Geiger pair, which I never thought I would say ;-)

Are you in town? I will be museum-ing and gallery-ing most days so if you wanted to meet up for a cuppa or lunch, that would be lovely!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
Fingers crossed. And damn! Next year. I am bringing Mr Brammers with me in October/November, and beating him until he spends at least six weeks in Europe with me (preferably 12, but that involves money ...), so we will have a little regional visiting time.

[identity profile] catsintheattic.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 10:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yay!

Are we still booked for the 22nd?

[identity profile] i-autumnheart.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 10:41 am (UTC)(link)
Girl Guide Tip #547: Pack the violet crumble and toiletries *inside* the boots. Extra anti-squish protection and bonus spare room in suitcase. (Minor risk of embarrassment if selected for bag search in customs...)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 10:49 am (UTC)(link)
THAT IS THE PAIR I LIKE!

Obviously we now have to meet as we have exquisite taste. (Alas, I also have thick calves after a youth spend dancing and running and a lifetime of riding, so we'll have to see how they fit.)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 10:52 am (UTC)(link)
Hee! Currently the boots are in a big box, but if I need the space, they will be packed out with socks and undies, because they're so much easier to explain ;-)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, I am going to check things out at Frankfurt on the way over (much shorter layover at godawful o'clock, but enough time to ask important questions!)

[identity profile] i-autumnheart.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 11:01 am (UTC)(link)
Good point... and probably less risk of damage to the boots as well. Tends to be less of an issue with something that goes to camp!

[identity profile] auntpurl.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 11:36 am (UTC)(link)
I have thick calves too, but mainly because I'm kind of a fattie. Heh. But I got some fairly narrow DKNY boots last year and because they have a zip up the back and an adustable tab, I'm able to stuff my sausage calves in there. :) It totes depends on how the boots are constructed, in my experience.

[identity profile] vaysh11.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 11:54 am (UTC)(link)
It may not sound like it, but this tells me you are so organised!

So you're meeting Cats on the 22 on the Frankfurt Airport? If it wasn't right before Christmas, I'd be so tempted.

[identity profile] ladyjaneva.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
I wish you a wonderful time! Meeting so many cool people and seeing so many towns and sights *sigh*

I only regret that you're not stopping in Berlin ;-)

Have a safe trip!

[identity profile] vashtan.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Good luck. Ping me for meet-up in London :)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 12:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Let's not pretend I'm as thin as I once was ;-) They look as though they'll be good for walking if they fit, though, which is my essential need in a shoe, I love walking.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2009-12-04 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes ... organised ... well, at least I remembered now that I need to back-up my computer before I go, that's something!

I'm laughing, because if Paris ends up beset by strikes, my plan B is to flee to Germany ;-) But there's always next year!
