Unfortunately I'm in the non-crit category. I say 'unfortunately' because I realize how narrow that makes me, but I just don't have the defenses for it. Thankfully it doesn't happen all that often to me -- and i've had only varying success in replying, admittedly -- but I don't find it helpful at all. Likely it's because fandom is the only place I've been put in that position. Undoubtedly this is a result of decades of living-in-my-head-ness.
