Tasmania (and indeed much of Australia) was very nearly French. Which is how we ended up with so many French place names. The Antipodean Freycinet hooks off the east coast of Tasmania and is remarkably beautiful. One of the ten best walks through the wilderness I have done anywhere was through there, fully guided and with standing camps, so it was total luxury, at the same time as being exhausting!

A windbreak is anything you construct to stop wind. In this case it was a four-foot long bundle of spare camp bed, pack and spare sleeping bag, which gave me enough room to shelter behind curled up and snug as a bug!
