Because it bears repeating

In the broad church that is fandom, anon hate memes are the Westboro Baptists.

If you can't bring yourself to ignore them, make amusing signs, dress up as a super-hero, stage a same-sex kiss-in in response, but for the love of bunnies, don't let them get you down!

This is a genius analogy!

Given the forum, maybe cat macros?

Ooh, NICE! Next time any of our flistees is made miserable, let's organise attack of the Cheeseburger-seeking cats!

And thank you, dear :-)

Oh it's the quintessence of lamity, and mostly centred in fandom: basically an anonymous community in which someone says, for example 'I hate XXXX (this being a specific and normal person, not a public figure), she's a stuck-up cow', and other people (presumably, it's all anon, so it could be the one person with far too much time on their hands) chime in with similar banality.

It's the fandom equivalent of being hit on by the really slimy mature-aged student at university: nasty and potentially traumatising, but in a way, it signifies you're having an impact ;-)

Golly. People, eh?

Yes, we know

I live in Kansas, home of the Westboro Baptists (I lurk here occasionally, hoping for more 'Fathers') and I can assure you that the vast majority of Kansans would support an action to 'delete the account' of the hatemongers from Topeka. Add to that the fact that we from time to time elect evolution deniers to our state School Board, and I have no time for anything but online apologies

I have more Fathers written, but alas a magazine has eaten my life since July, will be back soon!

Kansas will forever be a land of decent people, flying houses, Very Exciting Weather and broad spaces in my mind, not responsible for the WBC, who are like a sort of tinea that sprang up on an otherwise mostly healthy body. And, of course, you represent the populace well :-)
