Serendipity

It is pissing down for the fifth or sixth day in a row, so I have come in for a couple of hours before dinner and am sitting on my bed, in my thoroughly pleasant hotel in Firenze, watching A Room With A View.

Splendid.

(Though I fear I may be a chaste, old, Lucy Honeychurch.)

(Either that or a slightly better preserved Miss Lavish.)

Comprehensive update coming soon.

There was super dark chocolate, followed by free prosecco from the hotel, rather than tea, which then needed to be followed by un piccolo coppette straciatelli from Grom, my favourite gelataria, even though the weather is stupid for such a thing, but they make it with massive chunks of bittersweet chocolate and it is the yummiest thing in the world. Luckily, I skipped dinner ;-)

And it was the one with Helena Bonham Carter, so Julian Sands's bottom is at its finest! It would be lovely if you were here, too -- I would watch it again!

You either have the most delicious life or write about it in the most delicious way. I think both.

I lost my heart to that movie as an impressionable teenager. I read an interesting review that praised the more recent version, but Helena, Julian, and yes, Daniel own those roles.
