Tardiness, it's my gift ...

HOW AM I SO FAR BEHIND?? Right. I think I started cocking up on birthdays around about February, so let's just deal with the most immediate lapses of usefulness on my part.

IMMENSELY HAPPY BIRTHDAY
to [livejournal.com profile] sarcasticpixie ! Suzie darling, you are political fiend and cat lover after my own heart. Have a wonderful day, dear, and do run for office before you turn 40. Because Emmanuel is fun, but your campaign Twitter stream would be GOLD.

BRY! [livejournal.com profile] bryoneybrynn , who I truly believe will one day finish the Story that Must Not Be Named, but not before I finish the one you can almost talk about without making me squeak in guilt, which according to the terms of our ancient pact means that your lot have to at least get out of bed ;-) -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR! If you say one single word about now being old I will a. throw things in your direction, b. roll my eyes from my almost decade-older vantage point, and c. scoff. I hope that you are having a fabulous day and that the present fairies have splashed out with something lovely.

And a wee bit late, GREAT CELEBRATIONS OF YOUR BIRTH to [livejournal.com profile] nursedarry ! Darry, you are are seriously one of the loveliest people I have met in fandom and -- look, just never leave, the place would go quickly to pot without you. Your wit and wisdom are required! and I hope they were suitably rewarded yesterday! Good luck with the packing!

Happy birthday for yesterday
, too, to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] hogwartsvixxxen  -- it sounds as though you had a great time! Hurrah for this year being so much better for you than last, may it continue to improve more and more!

And also for [livejournal.com profile] silvershinigami , even though you've disappeared of late. Did that boy work out? Did life become Very Busy? Are you currently on a top-secret mission to uncover the secrets of Cold Fusion? I hope that you were suitably rewarded with cake even if it had to be dropped off inside a rolled-up newspaper by a man in a trenchcoat!

And oh cock, it's 1am again. Sorry everyone else I have missed, sleep calls. Last night it was so cold that I had to get up and put on legwarmers among other items of clothing. Why do I even OWN legwarmers? And don't scoff, you Northern set, lack of insulation in Sydney houses means if it's 8 deg C outside, it's 8 deg C inside. With windchill in our bedroom, as we have one hell of a draught. Great for indoor paper planes, less good for toasty sleeping. Tonight, I plan to use the doorsnake on the window before I try to drop off -- I can be taught!

NB Doorsnake is not a euphemism.

I hope you get warmer, honey! Doorsnake? I just use pillows. (I am lazy and pillows are thicker & with more coverage.) Tea in the morning, dear, hot tea in the morning!

If I'd been able to coordinate myself out of the bedroom it would have been tea in the hot water bottle last night ;-)

Too cold to sleep, darling! I needed a proper down duvet, save that there are usually only two nights a year on which such a thing is bearable here, so I have a wool one for all the others.

Wear layers! I've been known to sleep in socks, trousers, two sweaters and a cardigan. Under a duvet. Or two.

That's pretty much what I ended up in. And what I will start out in tonight! XXX

Keep cookies nearby. You will be burning lots of calories keeping your body warm!

I have Cookie the cat to keep me warm! Except she abandoned me for the warm spot in the study beside the computer tower. Little fiend. Monster sat on Mr B for a few hours, but could not be cajoled into snuggling behind my legs to share her toastiness. Why I feed these two is a mystery.

Mr B should do the gentlemanly thing and back off the cat warmth generator - ladies first.

Alas, Mon goes to the highest point, and we both sleep on our sides, so he has a few inches on me due to his broad and manly shoulders v my petite frame. Also, she is a fat bastard and a bit crushing. Little Cookie is better as a shoulder cat, but harder to lure into work!

*snuggles until you are warm* *hugs*

MUCH TOASTIER! *Feels like a lupin for complaining about 8°, can hear Norwegians laughing from here*

It's all relative... :) Now I feel like I should get some hot coffee - my feet are suddenly cold! :D
