There is definitely A Plant, or Several Plants, as I had a big attack of 'I cannot breathe!' last year walking down a street in spring and then actual hayfever at Easter, which is just ridiculous. After a lifetime of impeccable lungage, I expect to continue on with no need for steroids or antihistamines!

Doctor seems to think it is a few things, all of which can be controlled with drugs. And if it turns out to be cats, you know it will mean my Old Lady cats (the next generation) will be Sphinxes, so I will be able to spend my dotage surrounded by scary naked cats that will require jumpers to be knitted for them every winter!

Terry is uniformly fab, though I say this as someone who has been reading him from the beginning, so maybe you'd be best off starting with something like Dodger, which is a standalone, to see if you like his style before lurching into Discworld. Nation, his other recent standalone, is also very good, though some people didn't like it as much as I did, but I think they were just not as into politics as one ought to be.

If you want to start reading Discworld, I do think it's worth reading from the beginning, but the Colour of Magic is not his funniest book and his style develops a lot in the years after.

The Wee Free Men books are all good, too. Check out this post for the order of all the Discworld books, if you wanted to do the Wee Free Men ones separately and first, you can find them in there -- all the Tiffany Aching books: http://www.goodreads.com/series/40650-discworld
