It's a bad case of magical thinking. It is demonstrably provable that reducing taxes on rich individuals does nothing to create jobs or improve the economy, but the Republicans persist in believing that it will, if they just do it right. (Lowering taxes on corporations is arguable, but on individuals, it is provably ineffective.)
