He was going for her, though Hermione may have thwapped him in time (setting him up for the Crystal Ball of Death, which remains my favourite method of Bad Guy Dispatch ;-))
I quite like the idea of her living with after-effects, it seems the most probable to me.

I'm reasonably sure she's alive, though would also accept dead from falling as a reasonable answer with canon evidence, as I don't think it's clear cut either way. I reject the HP Wikia's death by werewolf, though!
I am in agreement with your reasoning!
HEEE! Yes, you can't trust her, the wily old author! You capture my conundrum nicely, though like you, I tend to fall on the alive side of the question.
There is no necessity for proper grammar here. Typos are always welcome, too! And for crying out loud, you can spell grammar, which puts you well ahead of the pack!
As to your comment – Exactly! I've ripped my face off (well, the road did) and still had plenty of action with an asymmetrical nose and forehead dent. Pretty is not defined by perfection: it's not even really defined by the physical (aside from physical representations of things like happiness and health), but that's a bigger discussion than a comment reply.
Oh balls, now I really want to write scarred Lavender into the fic I am working on at the moment and can't. NEXT fic!

I like the idea of her with a stick, which she could use to hook the legs of passing young men.
Well into her 80s.
Well into her 80s.
Bwahahahaha! That was the story that started all of this in my head! And then when I was flicking through DH again tonight, I thought, 'Well, since the reveals for that fest are up, I can ask now!' It was all connected!
Alive and scarred from her attack I would imagine.
I like seeing people change, like Draco. He and Lavender had plenty of room for growth after TDH, so I'd like to see her become something more than a simpering schoolgirl. She could become really BAMFy having to overcome such adversity.
Ooooh, now I want to write BAMF werewolfy Lavender.
And I want to read it!!
If she grew up, she could be a real attraction to Ron, maybe give Hermione a run for her money.

I was sure she was dead after I read the book and then everybody else was all 'No, she's not one of the dead'.
I've ticked both boxes, she fell and she was attacked while injured. I read it as Greyback was doing his creepy thing with a dying girl.
For me it was showing that Greyback was so evil he was mauling dead children.

:) She was clearly still alive immediately after the attack and I reckon we can decide for ourselves whether or not she survived.
Yes, me too. It has the potential for some very interesting stories! I want to see what a really good writer can do with it.
My vote is also for alive and wolfy, because fandom NEEDS a wolfy female character to balance all the Remus-and-Bill-eating-raw-meat stuff, and I adore the idea of wolfy!Lavender getting her groove on. :D
I spent years thinking that she was turned into a badass werewolf lady because of the Greyback incident. Then again, I could barely see the last pages through my tears. It was all 'He dies! She dies! Everybody dies!'
I would definitely want to read this.
I am in absolute agreement with you.
I intend to ignore the Encylcopaedia. Fanon is my Encylcopaedia. The actual Encylcopaedia becomes the retcon of the collective subconscious. :)
