Sherlock! No spoilers, aside from facts covered off in every advert and piece of PR

Finally saw the first episode of the new series: entertainingly silly.

I do like their version of Mary Mottram (GAH! MORSTAN. Sorry. Mary Mottram is a flower I quite like. blogging late at night = higher likelihood of aphasia showing), though. Especially her hair! I liked the interpretation of the character in the RDJ-Law films, too. I am willing to put up with quite a lot of silly for a good Mary Morstan. And Molly! I adore Molly! And Mrs Hudson, who I have always loved deeply in practically every iteration.

My darling friend Dee screened it for me: I rewarded her with a great deal of 'Punch him! Punch him some more!' Along with ice-cream and blackberries.

Last night Cookie woke me with her gentle Miew-miewing: she had been ferreting down the back of my open underwear drawer (there is a reason I own three sticky roller delinting things!) and had decided she wanted to sleep in one of the nooks of the Expedit bookcase. This bookcase lives along one wall of our bedroom next to the chests of drawers and I use it to store my towels and craft materials.

Unfortunately, I washed all the towels the other day, and had rolled them up and put them away in their nooks. I had to get out of bed and drop six or so towels onto the floor until there was enough space for a fluffy little cat. She gave my hand a loving little lick as she crawled in and settled down on the remaining towels, purring contentedly.

At 4am, I was woken by a fluffy little cat leaping down from her nook onto my legs. Apparently, it's faster to get down that way rather than by going down via the drawers again. The drawers which can never be fully closed because at any moment a cat may require them for navigation, or be hiding down the back of one. Now she and Monster are lying stretched out along the full length of the ironing board, grooming in tandem while I watch a documentary about Bill Cunningham who has had 29 bicycles stolen from him over the years. He does live in New York City …

That is such an excellent cat story - there is no point in folding and pyrring away, when a cat might need that space.

I've not dared to look at either of the two people on my flist who either loathe or love Sherlock, bound to both have hated it, and although you are known to me as superpositive, I'm just so glad you saw it exactly like I did. I only retumbled the many many punching posts. Aaaah.

(I didn't dare go into the tag either, although it's faintly amusing *doomy music starts up* that they don't know about Mary's fate and will of course blame Moffat for that as well).

You have a sturdy ironing board. Or your cats are much lighter than my non-fat ones.

I love their version of Mary! I think she's actually my favorite thing from the S0301. There's a lot of stuff that makes me want to punch things, but her and Mrs. Hudson, and Greg (because I didn't even realise I've missed Greg until I saw his mug on TV, lol)--I adore them all.

29 bikes?! He could almost be living in China, for that number. :P

Mary and Mrs. Hudson were the best bits of the opener, as I found everything else too gimmicky and not enough heart - but that's Moffat's style all over again.

Mary was fab! So smart and cool, and also the best eyeliner ever. I particularly enjoyed the first half, with the gradual downgrading of locations until they were in the street. Mrs Hudson made me cry a little. She is always the best.

Your cats have really got it sorted haven't they? My poor creatures have to put up with a boring old bed to lie on :)

I loved the whole episode from start to finish and whole heartedly joined in with you in begging John to punch Sherlock again and again! However I found it funny, with welcome dramatic intervals, rather than silly and could have wept for John (fangurls Martin Freeman again and again...). It certainly highlights the difference in style of acting of BC (flamboyant) and MF (restrained)!

Glad to hear that your cats have you well trained. :-)

i liked mary, too. i find it all a bit tiresome. i was really prepared as a casual fan to really enjoy it, but found it highly irritating instead. shame that.

lol cats.

I love Molly and Mary and Mrs Hudson too! And your description "entertainingly silly" is very apt. I was expecting a lot more ~dramaz~ for this episode, but it was like crack!fic at times. I still liked it.
