Kitten!

Jones the kitten

He and Cookie have an amicable calm relationship: Monster is plotting his overthrow. I have been gifted with a few cuddling and patting opportunities, and am trying to tire him out to the point where I can take lots of photos in a bid to write an irresistible ad to find him a new home. This is the only photo so far in which he is in focus: he seems to feel that stillness is the enemy and it must be defeated!

We are calling him Jones, after the cat in Alien, for a long and complicated set of reasons. So far, he answers to 'Chicken', which seems to be the only English word he recognises. And he purrs like a little engine.

I could not call him Chicken because Monster is obsessed with chicken, to the point that she knows the word and if she hears us saying it, assumes we are about to buy some for her and gets very cross if none is forthcoming!

Has your hat arrived yet?

Jones is a great name, too. And now I am imagining you calling out "Chicken!" and meaning Jones, and Monster comes rushing in, demanding her food. :)

NOOOO!!! No hat has arrived. And it would be most welcome, considering the temperatures. I hope it arrives soon. Awww, and you knitted it. *hugs*

She comes running when she hears me unwrapping paper, thinking it might be sliced chicken from the deli. I suspect this may also be because on several occasions I have then felt guilty enough to go out and buy her sliced chicken …

BUM! It was posted before Christmas by airmail, so that is usually three weeks. I'll wait another three before I cry, but a pair of gloves went the year before last. I am slowly clothing a postman somewhere!
