Oops! I forgot!

One more upside thing, Laura Marling! She's so young she's practically a foetus, but she has a beautiful and lyrical voice that is enormously accessible and without the bombast of some of the other Meaningful Young Women singers of the day. Her songs shift across themes by turns epic, angsty and amusing, but always with a wry edge of humour and charm.

I've been playing her album on high rotation this week, and am considering reviewing it, even though it's not a book. Check out Ghosts, her most commercial song to this point, with wacky but intterestingly arty video attached. And don't be fooled by the simplistic musical opening, it sets the scene for a shift to complexity that is rewarding without being pretentious or overwhelming for a three-minute pop song.

What a strange but awesome video. I'm such a sucker for strange forms of animation and this definitely did it for me. 8D

Coolly crazy, isn't it? If you like wacky video, you might also like Sia. Her voice is not as gorgeous as Laura's, but she writes v cool music and lyrics. Glad you liked it!
