Quick things

Does anyone know if there is a definitive list of Death Eaters who take the Dark Mark as confirmed in the books and JKR's interviews? (We can leave out Movie!Canon.) I am confident on most, but there are a few that I have no recollection of having been confirmed one way or the other but HP Wiki seems definite about (which could just mean, again, that I have the memory of a fish).

Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]thady ! May it be full of conflicted but grumpily charismatic dark-haired men appearing at opportune moments ;-)

My only suggestion is that you check HP lexicon, unless of course that is what you mean by HPwiki.

They are different places.

There is only one I think you will have an issue with. I have the memory of a sieve but I am fairly positive Draco did not reveal a Darkmark in the books. That blessedly stupid event was the work of the movie makers.

Draco didn't reveal a Dark Mark in the books; I looked it up when I got home from watching the movie, because it made me so cross!

(I don't think he really has one! He's a crap Death Eater, why would he receive a mark of special favour?)

Well, exactly! I can imagine that perhaps he would have been Marked if he'd managed to off Dumbledore, but his efforts in actual badarsery were made of so much fail. Of course, that's part of why we love him so, poor lamby...

Cheers, dear! I started with Lexicon, but no luck, so went on to the Wiki because they are sometimes better footnoted, but while both had good lists of Death Eaters, none were really able to give me details on who had Dark Marks in addition to being Death Eaters.

We know that it's not all DE's, but there are only a few who are confirmed yes or no ... people like Karakoff and the set summoned to the graveyard for Voldemort's rebirth are on the yes list, but finding out who is on the no list is much harder. And I have to confess that I am rubbish at Interview!Canon ;-)

Interviews are not canon (except where they keep Malfoys out of Azkaban...)

I think all you can be sure of is that anyone summoned to the graveyard must have a Dark Mark. Plus Karakoff and Snape (in their discussion scene) and Bellatrix (at Malfoy Manor in DH) You can't even be sure about the DEs at the Ministry, or all of the ones round the table at the opening of DH (certainly not Draco and probably not Narcissa).

Anyone else (including R.A.B., who may or may not have been too young to be Marked) is up for grabs.

I'd say the only ones who are confirmed are those who met Voldemort in the graveyard when he was resurrected, and those whose marks we've actually see in other circumstances -- Snape and Karkaroff.

(Draco is totally marked, imo. :P What else did she show Borgin at the beginning of HBP? Although he wouldn't mark a werewolf, so Fenrir's not actually a DE.)

A note from his mother!

(Borgin: Voldemort? Fah! Where's the profit in him?

Draco: Ah, well in that case, I think you'll find this argument persuasive, mother says hand it over or she'll start buying from Albania!

Borgin: It's yours! And here's a lovely hexed hatstand to go with it!)

That is a definite possibility. :D

I will never recover from the disappointment that it wasn't a werewolf bite, though.

Do we ever see him on a full moon night in books six and seven?

No. We do not.

Heh heh heh.
