Meme post one

Leochi picked me among her 10 lj people who make my day list. The rules are simple, if picked, make your own list of lj people who make your day (previously done lists count!) Except there is no way I can name just 10 people. You're all too amazing. So I am shamelessly cheating and have 10 groups and even then I am leaving out many people who should be here.

[personal profile] anthimaeria and [personal profile] jadzialove: I genuinely find it hard to remember that I don't see you two regularly in real life. In addition to being compassionate, funny and thoughtful, you write with wit and style, and you both have great hair.
[profile] dumbys_baby : you have a group of your own because I actually do see you regularly. You're just lovely in every way, and I hope everything goes smoothly at Easter. Write more fic, dammit.
[profile] sansa1970, [personal profile] bryoneybrynn, [profile] calanthe_fics and [profile] nqdonne: you all started off as just writers I liked (and the first three of you have also been huge influences), and then became friends I look forward to chatting to. I hope that all the things in your lives that are causing you stress and difficulty resolve themselves smoothly and swiftly.
[profile] house_illrepute, [profile] shiv5468 and [personal profile] pir8fancier: I nod so much at your posts that sometimes I feel a tiny bit stalkerish. I'd like to point out that if I were a stalker, I would be the type that comes bearing quality alcohol or handspun alpaca and knocks off at 5.30pm.
[profile] lackofmendacity, [personal profile] thady and [profile] romaine24: you three are kind, gentle and gracious, which are old-fashioned qualities but ones the world is in desperate need of.
[personal profile] leochi, [profile] djinniyah, and [personal profile] lillithium: as people, you all make me smile. But as artists you change the way that I look at HP and make me think about my writing in ways that I never would without you.
[personal profile] pushdragon  and [personal profile] snottygrrl , we WILL hang out in person in the next few months, dammit. I am not enduring the idiocy of this year without meeting people I know I already like.
[profile] bubblegumlocks, [profile] emerald_dragon8, and [personal profile] slian_martreb: it's been a while since I was a young person, but the three of you remind me of what it was like. You all have so much fortitude and ability. Even when things seem crap, I know that your futures will be shiny, because you all are.
[personal profile] grey_hunter, [personal profile] winstonmom and [profile] daisy_chan: you three take time out from your own work to regularly encourage the work of others. You are examples that I am trying to follow more closely.
[personal profile] frayach, [personal profile] furiosity and [personal profile] fourth_rose , you are the three whose stories and updates make me late for work. This month has been rubbish since you are all otherwise occupied (mostly -- off to finish Interregnum next!). If I ran the universe you would have large fic stipends and comfy chairs. It helps that you all seem to be the sort of people I would cheerfully hang out with.

Germaine Greer and I share a birthday ... but I think she is still ahead. I suspect that you might be, too, even if you have more crowsfeet. Because she still has so many daft cock-ups left to tick off in life!

I shall seek to advance my plans for global takeover. And look forward to Worldcup being revealed!

*Smooches back*

Ooh, tea. I'll bring my spindle.

I would be a lovely tyrant. Yes there would be summary exile to an unpleasant island for everyone who really annoys me, but aside from a stack of political and religious figures and exes of mine, most people would reap the rewards of my enlightened reign.

Will work on global dominance, or at least wealth accrual so that oceans become irrelevant.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
Same here. You make me feel so much less strumpetty and so much more a source of amusing anecdote. XXX BB

Children are there to be oppressed. Tell them that the more housework they do independently, the less nagging you will do automatically.

We'll find you an au pair and you can come in on the bad behaviour.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
Thank *you*. Your art makes me think.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
You're so right about the likelihood of forgetting people off lists like these, but what the hell.

[identity profile] leochi.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 08:40 am (UTC)(link)
*g* I'm not the hugger, mind you - but you need to be squeezed by me right now. I'm sure you look lovely :-)) I'd love to see a photo of you.

Thanks for the compliment on the bone structure - I'm glad I have never had the misfortune of breaking any of them, so I really feel sorry for you, because you wrote you'd broken a lot of them, what a horrible thought! Spraining my ankle a couple of times was quite enough to bear. (I hate cars btw and I love my bike ;-) and I love walking too).

Let's set up the "Club of Comfy Shoes Wearers" ;DDD

Short and sarcastic? Well, I suppose that it would be a funnier world if they all were ... although the people associated with reality TV would be unemployed, poor lambs.

[identity profile] calanthe-fics.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
I am having a O_o moment. I woke up to no less than 6 e-mails expresing shock at a fic I recced. 6! And that's not the lj comments either. I'm too WTF-shaky to be funny.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
Oh man, now I'll have to read that fic and I was going to spend tonight writing after I get back from the pub. I had a peek at your comments and find myself agreeing with meredyth_13 that there should be a way for fandom to discuss fics in an academic manner without people feeling we've eaten their babies.

I really like Titus Andronicus, and it's all about rape, incest and cannibalism. If the squick is good enough for Shakespeare ...

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
Fear not my brains (for they are a tad scrambled). Fear my uncanny ability to give orders and have them obeyed by young children (it helps that such orders are usually along the lines of "Run! Attack!")

Clearly, there is a BB look. We should exchange notes. Where do you stand on Chanel lipstick?

*Oof* catches admiration, and throws some of it straight back at you!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 08:57 am (UTC)(link)
Cat has asthma! Is just back from vet with new probable diagnosis. She has X-rays scheduled for Monday morning. To help her, I have booked in my hot young 20-ish male friend to come around and remove all the asthma-causing weeds from my garden. Please, universe, let it be a hot day so he will take off his shirt.

You were meant to be on this list, but, as you will note if you read the other meme post, I have the memory of a rather stupid fish. I admire everything about you from your writing to your sarcasm, and your fiendish catnapping plans.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
Excellent, I'll just work on the independent wealth and then take it up. Have read Jasper Fforde? I like his registered stalkers a lot.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
I had suspected you would have great hair.

And I am all for old-fashioned, as my often 16th-century spelling attests.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
YAY!

[identity profile] calanthe-fics.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well I wouldn't like to think you read it because of me - the reaction to this fic has been so strong in the negative sense that I wouldn't like you to resent me for wasting your time. Even had I not liked the fic I wouldn't have been able to understand the capslock anger it seems to have caused. We're all different. We all like different stuff. I just hope nobody judges me for liking it when they didn't.

There used to be an lj comm that dissected fics like that forget what it was called, thankfully. Basically, a fic was picked and the members all read it, then pulled it apart through discussion threads. One of my fics was going to be discussed although it never happened and you know what? I'm thankful it didn't. There was someone in the group of people I didn't like - someone who had little respect for the feelings of others - and I know I would have felt flamed in the worst way had they done to my fic what they'd done to others. I'm afraid I think there aren't many people who a) could be a reasoning adult once they're part of a group, members of which are baying for blood, and b) take that kind of criticism without wanting to die because of it.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 09:26 am (UTC)(link)
Reading is never a waste of time unless it is reading anything written by a former Spice Girl.

I don't think I've ever resented a book. Actually, no, I resented that book about the vampire "mommy" with bad soft porn and Celtic stereotypes. Just once I would like to see an Irish vampire with hygiene issues, bad teeth and an obsession with his mother.

Yes, for a comm like that to work you would need people on both sides to have the best of wills. LJ is not the best environment to encourage it ... But there is no excuse for capslock rage!

[identity profile] snottygrrl.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
yes, there will be hanging out or there will be tantrums and tears and general badness.

thanks for including me in your list and wanting to meet me in person.

[*snogs*]

[identity profile] calanthe-fics.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 10:10 am (UTC)(link)
You're talking about an Irish vampire with bad teeth? You MUST be talking about Cassidy in Garth Ennis's 'Preacher' comic books. Talk about irreverent religion-lampooning BRitish humour at its best. Even if you don't read comics I would recommend everyone to read Preacher. It's probably the single best complete comic strip I've ever had the immense pleasure of reading.

(ha ha - the irony of me reccing something else is not lost on me at this stage.)

Oh noes! Asthma cat! Will you have to get her a mini inhaler? :) (Seriously - hope the X-rays and stuff go well and it's not too serious).

Hmmm - why don't you make your hot male friend a really hot cup of tea to help with the warming process? :D

Also, you know I was joking, right? Right? *panics* Sometimes sarcasm + Internet = lose. But yes, I am worthy of admiration in all ways. *preens* :)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I had no idea you were being sarcastic. I am not familiar with its tones at all. Also, I am five foot ten and blonde.

They DO have mini inhalers for the cat. You can imagine my combination of glee and horror on discovering this (It's SO CUTE!! My arms will be shredded!!) You can see them here: http://www.fritzthebrave.com/gallery/inhaled.php but do bear in mind that my cat is an evil, formerly feral, extremely smart tortiseshell, not a fat pampered Siamese.

And as to my young friend; it's very bad. He's really sweet and lovely and I like hanging out with him on the chatting and sympathetic views front, but at the same time I keep looking at him and thinking: "Good gracious, you are a hot young man!"
who_la_hoop: (Hell yes (draco))

[personal profile] who_la_hoop 2008-02-15 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
AEROCAT! *dies of laughter* That is SO CUTE! I suggest you invest in a suit of armour if you buy one of those or, at least, gauntlets :)

I would not feel bad at all about ogling a hot young man. It is Natural and Right, hee. Plus, he's coming to do your weeding, so he's obviously a complete sweetheart!

*is also tall, blonde and has a teeny, tiny waist*

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-02-15 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I am paying him ... but I did also choose to hire him rather than an actual gardener because I know I quite like to ogle him. The morality is grey ...

Funnily enough, thanks to the resident Australian's crazed medievalism, we do have armour in the house. But I think I will wear my pruning gauntlets. We have a strategy in preparation for Monday's diagnosis and the probable AeroKat outcome: we are going to the cat shop tomorrow to buy every single type of snacky treat and will spend the weekend finding the one she likes most, then bribe! Bribe like the wind!

*Did I mention that my young man looks exactly like Jamie Bamber crossed with Sean Bean?* (That bit is not wholly sarcastic, he looks like JB/SB with an extra stone and in need of a facial.)

[personal profile] who_la_hoop 2008-02-15 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Woe, for I do not know who Jamie Bamber is. *googles* Oooooooh. Can I fly over to Australia and help you watch him garden, please? :)

Grey morality is the best morality!
