Someone lives in Bath

Someone lovely on my flist lives in Bath and worked in the Costume Museum a year ago. I am sure that if I put my brain to it, the right name will pop up, but sadly I am still a bit woozy from the flu and, more exhaustingly, am I am doing far too much proper work thanks to circumstances that cannot be discussed as they lead to me raging and frothing in an unbecoming fashion.

The point of this being, I think I need to spend a day or two in Bath in November, and would love to catch up for tea and pop into the museum, especially because the glove exhibition is on! And Vionnet! There is even a nice little hotel that has good rates, which means I can afford to pay for the cuppas, so all is shiny.

Alas, trains to York were exorbitant, and local areas even worse, so I will not be able to turn up on [livejournal.com profile] goddessriss 's doorstep with Violet Crumble this trip, but the upside of the current grim work situation is that my next contract will see a significant increase in hourly rate, so next time!

Off to sleep more, hope to be back to normal (normalish) soon!

Erm, actually two someones on your flist live in Bath. I've never worked at the Costume Museum, though. But I do have a foldout couch I can offer, if you're staying overnight.

OH COOL! I am waiting to hear back from the very reasonably priced hotel, so all should be well accommodation wise, but we should totally catch up for cake! (Will be too tired to drink alcohol by then, as I am a tragic Two Drink Napper.)

Yays! That's OK. There's a cafe that has figured out the wonders of the Flat White. I love them for that.

I shall keep my fingers crossed, then! I do come to London once a month for meetings, so shall hold out hope that our paths may cross some day. Violet Crumble sounds lovely.

No sign of Puss, I fear the worst. I have been offered a kitten, which will be ready to leave Mum on 6th Nov. We're going to see it at the weekend, if I can bring myself to. It seems a bit like replacing her, somehow, even though we'd been offered it before she went...

It's not replacing your cat, it's honouring her memory by improving the lives of other cats! When Min died, we needed two to live up to her memory :-)

And I will be in London for quite a few days, so when you know your November dates, let me know -- I will keep my fingers crossed! As to Violet Crumble, it is one of those strange and tragically addictive snackfoods: raitala called it chocolate covered crack, which is fairly accurate.

A glove exhibition sounds lovely!

It looks really good! They have a nice collection down there!

Why did I have to move away from Bath? :(

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2010-09-15 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I will be in London and doing a quick Kent run if you're in the South-East. I could sneak into Sussex wearing a hat and large sunglasses!

Oooh! I shall have to pop down to London then...

*blink* Vionnet exhibition?

*drools*

It's only a little one, not a fraction of the Arts Decoratifs one of last year, but you get a really good up-close look at things at Bath! I am very excited that she is becoming massively 'in' of late, so many good articles and monographs about!

Does spending loads of time in the bath count? :P
*cast flu begone spell on you*

*snuggles*

I just had a long bath with Agatha Christie, which made me feel as happy as being in Bath, so, yes, it does count, sort of!

The flu is going, it just goes slowly, as flus do. Better than ebola, at least!

*Snuggles back*

I think it might be me you're looking for; I work (occasionally) at the Fashion Museum, and regularly at the Roman Baths (being "sister" museums staff are interchangeable) and I would love to take you around. The 2 Vionnet dresses are on show until 28th November. I'm also a newly trained tour guide for the city, and could help you with anything else you wanted to see or do. I live about 15 miles from Bath and we have a large empty nest with lots of spare bedrooms. It's the least I can do to thank you for the hours of enjoyment your writing has provided!
yours, Theodoraleft
