The ONE thing Australians could do better than other countries, and they've blown it. Honestly.
(Although, tbh, I don't really care about cricket, I find it dreadfully boring. I'm a traitor to my country.)
(Also, are you as ridiculously pleased as I am that Oprah has left the country? I was beginning to dread turning the television on because it was just all about bloody Oprah.)
No Fun At All. Mind you, it's been No Fun for such a while that I now find myself unable to really gel with or recognise most of the players. I did sit down for a while this afternoon to watch... but it was too depressing. And boring (not because I usually find cricket boring, rather this was boring cricket).
I miss the Seventies ... Lillee and Marsh were at least highly entertaining when England was losing, so I didn't mind as much, and teams were better matched. And yes, it was dull. Thank goodness for Hussey and Haddin and Johnson putting a few runs on the board!
We managed to sneak in a little watching at work, then my mate from Essex bunked off early, around 5 Sydney time. 'If you hurry home,' I told him, 'you might catch the last of the Australia innings.'
Well I suppose we do need a serious thumping eery now and again to control the hubris...... but we need to get our sh*t together and start playing now, its just getting embarrassing :( I cheer myself up by considering the fact that our being bowled out means I get to watch those pretty English boys bat though :)
