Happy cat

It has been unseasonably cool in Sydney today, and may dip as low as 15 tonight (minima at this time of year are usually over 20, often over 25). Having found myself chilled by the breeze blowing through the house, I broke out the Muppet blanket that lives on the sofa over winter (it looks like a skinned Muppet, I'm afraid) and was wrapped in it to watch the saddest cricket in the world this afternoon*.

The blanket is now in a bundle beside me, with a Monster cat curled up on it. She is ecstatic, as the Muppet is her favourite blanky, having both softness and texture. She is half asleep, but still cheerfully purring even as she beings to snore.

She's snurring!

* Obviously I am thrilled that England are about to win the Ashes in Australia, but no one likes to see their once-great opponent do so badly, and especially no one likes to see a team tear itself up with bile and bitterness. The Australian commentators are even embarrassed and spent the day notably not talking about Ricky Ponting, but rather what a good leader of men Andrew Strauss (the England Captain) is.

I think I might have actually just made this face: o3o at 'snurring'. I didn't realise that was possible.

... I want a kitty! *pets from afar*

(I cannot comment on the cricket content of your post, but cats always get a reaction from me :D)

I have passed on your petting, she is quite pleased with it and sends you thanks!

When you find yourself in a place where you can have a kitty, I can strongly recommend getting one from the pound. Both Monster and Cookie came from pounds and they are the loveliest cats we've ever had, and tied with the best ever cat from my childhood. And Cookie has been the lowest-maintenance cat EVER, even more so than farm cats!

I'd definitely go for a rescue cat, so many kitties in need of homes :) (I'd only be a bit worries about taking more than one home by accident, hee!)

If you're in Melbourne, my neighbour has a litter than will need rehousing soon.

The British radio commentators are talking about Ponting more in sympathy than in anger. They reckon that the stress of the captaincy is getting to him, and that if that was removed and he was just allowed to go out and bat, he would still be formidable. However, they also reckon that, unlike England, the Aussies have a tradition that if you lose the captaincy, you also lose the Test team place... I wouldn't know.

I imagine you've had two furry purring lumps sleeping in your bed the last few days.

Give your girls a snuggle from me! =^.^=

I managed 5 whole minutes of cricket today, I thought of you fondly and then fell promptly to sleep.

It was the end of all the holiday stress that put me to sleep, not my thoughts of you nor the cricket.

Heh. I have a vest that I tend to say is made from a skinned Muppet (the inside is this green furry fabric -- possibly Oscar the Grouch?). My cats have never snurred but maybe if I let them sleep in the vest, they would! That sounds adorable.

KP did wind him over the review of KP's dismissal, winking at Punter and saying he'd nicked it when they were waiting for the review.

Git

Snerfles. It's a shame to see them lose with such lack of style

Snurring is a time-honoured tradition in this house. As is the worship of furry blankets. :D

Kai and Loki have embraced the fact that I adjusted the thermostat on the bathroom floor so it is heating up again at night. I just have to remember not to walk on them in the dark. I am LOVING the cooler weather (and NOT looking forward to the 38 they are predicting for New Year's Eve - bah!)

WTF is going on with the cricket? I mean, they aren't doing anything to dispel the rumours about match-fixing in the second test. Sheesh!

Also, am I the only person ashamed that the Aussies claimed they could only win if they were allowed to sledge the opposition? Seriously? *headdesk*

Frankly, it does Australia good to lose at sport, because as a nation we're such obnoxious bastards about our entitlement to be the best at anything sporting.

C'mon, England, C'mon, C'mon, I say!

*sends you and Monster giant smooches*

It has been fairly cool for the time of year here in Melbourne too, thank goodness.

I agree about the cricket. I'm pleased with the results but it is beginning to be painful to watch. I remind myself of the arrogance of years gone past, though I feel for the young players.

I require clarification! The blanket resembles the /skin/ of the Muppet, not the Muppet without skin, right?

I've been really impressed by the Aussie commentary team; fair, balanced and knowledgeable plus Shane Warne is hilarious. This coming from an Anglo-Canadian who thinks that Australian rugby commentators are ignorant louts who should be banned from a ten mile radius of any microphone.

I'm not sure that Warnie is always intentionally hilarious ... but yes, I have mostly enjoyed the commentary here!

I have fond memories of Mr. Warne. On one of the two occasions I have been to the MCG, he was fielding in front of Bay 13 and the locals were tossing tennis balls for him to fetch.

Nice blog

It was very interesting for me to read that article. Thank you for it. I like such themes and everything connected to them. I would like to read a bit more on that site soon.
