Meme post one

Leochi picked me among her 10 lj people who make my day list. The rules are simple, if picked, make your own list of lj people who make your day (previously done lists count!) Except there is no way I can name just 10 people. You're all too amazing. So I am shamelessly cheating and have 10 groups and even then I am leaving out many people who should be here.

[personal profile] anthimaeria and [personal profile] jadzialove: I genuinely find it hard to remember that I don't see you two regularly in real life. In addition to being compassionate, funny and thoughtful, you write with wit and style, and you both have great hair.
[profile] dumbys_baby : you have a group of your own because I actually do see you regularly. You're just lovely in every way, and I hope everything goes smoothly at Easter. Write more fic, dammit.
[profile] sansa1970, [personal profile] bryoneybrynn, [profile] calanthe_fics and [profile] nqdonne: you all started off as just writers I liked (and the first three of you have also been huge influences), and then became friends I look forward to chatting to. I hope that all the things in your lives that are causing you stress and difficulty resolve themselves smoothly and swiftly.
[profile] house_illrepute, [profile] shiv5468 and [personal profile] pir8fancier: I nod so much at your posts that sometimes I feel a tiny bit stalkerish. I'd like to point out that if I were a stalker, I would be the type that comes bearing quality alcohol or handspun alpaca and knocks off at 5.30pm.
[profile] lackofmendacity, [personal profile] thady and [profile] romaine24: you three are kind, gentle and gracious, which are old-fashioned qualities but ones the world is in desperate need of.
[personal profile] leochi, [profile] djinniyah, and [personal profile] lillithium: as people, you all make me smile. But as artists you change the way that I look at HP and make me think about my writing in ways that I never would without you.
[personal profile] pushdragon  and [personal profile] snottygrrl , we WILL hang out in person in the next few months, dammit. I am not enduring the idiocy of this year without meeting people I know I already like.
[profile] bubblegumlocks, [profile] emerald_dragon8, and [personal profile] slian_martreb: it's been a while since I was a young person, but the three of you remind me of what it was like. You all have so much fortitude and ability. Even when things seem crap, I know that your futures will be shiny, because you all are.
[personal profile] grey_hunter, [personal profile] winstonmom and [profile] daisy_chan: you three take time out from your own work to regularly encourage the work of others. You are examples that I am trying to follow more closely.
[personal profile] frayach, [personal profile] furiosity and [personal profile] fourth_rose , you are the three whose stories and updates make me late for work. This month has been rubbish since you are all otherwise occupied (mostly -- off to finish Interregnum next!). If I ran the universe you would have large fic stipends and comfy chairs. It helps that you all seem to be the sort of people I would cheerfully hang out with.

Meme post two

[profile] elanna9 tagged me for the seven quirky facts meme. I am desperate to procrastinate, and therefore very grateful.

1. I am an excellent swimmer. This never ceases to amaze Australians.
2. I was raised by hippie lawyers and lesbians. In terms of reading and arguing, this was the childhood from heaven. In terms of grooming and girliness, it was akin to being raised by wolves.
3. I have broken lots of bones, mostly thanks to cars, which are attracted to me.
4. I do not drive. Given 3, I see no reason to tempt fate. Also, I like walking a great deal, and usually have an interesting time on public transport. For this reason, I tend to live in cities with decent public transport. (And my next move will be to a city with good cycleways!)
5. I have very little memory of 1994 and the first half of 1995 due to my most exciting car/body interaction. I am also very vague on a lot of other events and some nouns for the same reason. It's all still in my head, it's just hideously disordered. I make jokes about being forgetful, but the truth is I will either remember something very well, or not at all.
6. I have never, ever wanted to be married. When the other little girls were playing Bride, I was playing War or Astronaut, and encouraging them to join in. That said, my current relationship is coming up on its 13th anniversary and I think I'll keep him.
7. When I was five, I read King Lear, saw it played on stage, and saw Lon Chaney's Phantom of the Opera at the cinema. During this period I remember staying awake at night horrified at the realisation that there was nothing. NOTHING.  That I would die and be gone and that the world was wholly unfair, and that even if Gonerils died, so did Cordelias and nothing I did could change that. To allow me to get to sleep, I would lie there and chant "Fairies! Think of the fairies!!" This went on until I was about ... oh ... 22 or so.
