Nice things

I was shopping with a dear friend the other day when I was overcome by a paroxysm of laughter and had to keep my mouth tightly shut and shoulders shaking like someone on the way home from a rave until we left the record shop that we were in.

At which point I turned to her and said, 'Shop attendants can be so unkind.'

She raised an eyebrow. 'Oh yes?'

'Oh yes. For instance, if I had to place a sticker that says "I'm cheap! Buy me now!" somewhere on a CD cover, I would not do so beside the words "Amy Winehouse".'

In other news, HAPPY BIRTHDAY who_la_hoop ! It's hard to think of you growing up my dear little Hoopie, but if ever I were to have a secret lovechild I would want her to be just like you. Talented, clever, inquisitive and bold are all things to celebrate! I hope that you have a wonderful year and that you are currently being stuffed senseless with very good cake.
