Lovely day ...
Jan. 16th, 2011 11:24 pmAn email came in late last night,
theodoraleft was going to be in Sydney for six hours between flights. As a result, I slept with the phone by the bed and was up and dressed by nine -- on a Sunday!
I caught up with her and her husband and had just the loveliest day wandering about exchanging chat and trivia, wandering through the Art Gallery (STILL haven't seen the entombed warriors, but very happy that we all share the same appreciation for the giggleworthiness of 19th century monumental art) and seeing Sydney by museum cafe and harbour.
The best quote of the day came from none of us, but from a little boy walking past St Mary's Cathedral: 'Dad, why are there plus signs on top of all the statues?' A for mathematics, D for religion, that boy.
Feel a wee bit guilty now, as I ended the day knackered from the sun and somewhat the worse for sweat, and
theodoraleft and her husband had an international flight to catch afterwards ... but at least they probably slept on the plane!
In other news, Kevin Rudd, former Prime Minister, now Foreign Minister and helpful rescuer of Brisbanite's belongings ended up in hospital with an infected foot from all the mank in the floodwaters. Poor lamb! No good deed goes unpunished!
Finally, thank you very much to
ldydark1 ,
treacle_tartlet and
absynthedrinker for the wonderful little otters! I am doing the Otter Hands of Glee about them!
