Very trying day for reasons that I won't go into at the moment. However, a few bright points.

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] absynthedrinker  for both your kind words and the absence of a question as to when the next chapter will occur. It will, but after Fathers ...

The very humane [livejournal.com profile] 17catherines  has an excellent post for Australians on Seena Akhliqi Sheikhdost, the little boy from the Christmas Island tragedy who is still being held in detention, including actions we can all take to make our displeasure known to a government that had promised to be better than this.

The lovely [livejournal.com profile] violet_quill  turns a year older today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope that it is fabulous for you, or at the very least delightfully relaxing. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY, too, to [livejournal.com profile] thebrandytook , you've been away for some time, I hope that you are having wonderful adventures!

Darling treacle_tartlet made me a Moomin icon! Which I will share as soon as I remember how to upload the buggers ...

Finally, I received a package from Oxbow Books today in a proper US postal bag with cardboard tags and everything. It felt like such really real post! Delicious!

Get well [livejournal.com profile] pseudicide , [livejournal.com profile] mummimamma  and everyone else with health issues at the moment. Being ill is no fun!

ETA: I remembered more good things!

One, [livejournal.com profile] wemyss , you are a dear!

Two, Mardi Gras is Sydney's GLBT parade and this year they are using social media to do a lot of their advertising, so people make their own posters and stick them up in the area. A great one in Erko has a lovely Catholic Christ with a speech bubble saying: 'I've never been doorknocked by homosexuals on a recruitment drive' -- a big laugh just at a moment I really needed one.

Three, Oh girls I chat with, I love you all. Thanks for the best wishes!

BLEURGH MOOMINS NO.

I actually liked them, but the abiding memory I have of them is that episode of the cartoon with the evil top-hat creature, which absolutely filled me with dread. ARGH NO!

Is that the Hobgoblin? They only thought he was evil, he turned out to be kind and a bit sad!

Thanks for the info about Seena. What a horrible situation. :( I will be writing, and am trying to spread the word to others.

The news suggests that things might finally be turning in a good direction, fingers crossed!

Dear woman, if you were doing that one-word description meme, I would be torn between Humane, Engaged and Arty for you, and all three make me very happy to have you on my flist.

Alas, the week is a bit doomed, but only a bit. Will all be fine in the end!

I'M SORRY your day was abysmal (and for accidental capslock). I'm glad to see you counting your blessings. I read your poster quote with puzzlement... having not finished my a.m. tea, it sank in after a few minutes, so I had a delayed laugh while reading something far more serious.I'm tempted to make one myself and post it on the door; I'd get into trouble, but that would make me happy, because a lot of people put up Xmas decorations.
