Happy Christmas/Yule/Late Solstice and very lake Hanukkah to all my F-list.

I hope that you are spending the holidays in ways that you're enjoying; whether that be the full festive fiasco, or the relaxed barbecue under a tree.

If you, like a few of my friends in far-flung cities are actually having a rubbish time, I can at least offer the comfort that it will make all future holidays look better by comparison, and the suggestion that you spend the time reading that novel you've been putting off and ignoring the chaos around you. Because buying into it will only cause you pain. Fake nausea if your attendance is being demanded!

Our house is having a very calm time with lunch postponed to late dinner (should get onto that in a minute ...) and fabulous gifts including the complete House of Eliott for me (costume fiends of a certain age will know what I am talking about) and Banksy's book of art for J.

This year Sydney is deliciously cool, so we were able to take the new Nerf torpedo down to the park and throw it around until our arms gave out. If you lack a boat, there is nothing, absolutely nothing, half so much worth doing as faffing about down at the park with something to kick or throw. We briefly considered stealing one of our neighbour's children so we didn't look like idiots being the only Nerfy adults about, but decided that I'm short enough to get past a cursory examination. There were two other sets of adults, one with a remote-controlled plane, one with a new football. Brilliant.

My resolution for 2008 is to play in the park at every available opportunity.

I hope that for all of you, 2008 brings joy, peace, and plenty of time for play.

It's my theory on the Master episodes (and also on much of Torchwood). When Russell sat down to write them, Colin Teague would have looked over to him and said "Listen, you know our fan base ..." "Yeah, they're pretty busy, I've decided to pre-slash this one so they won't need to." "Cheers, you're a mate."

oh i cant wait for that to start... i'm soooo hyper!!

Awwwww, I'm glad you a fun Christmas, and the cool weather was much appreciated indeed! (The hailstorms less so, but that's quite self-explanatory. :/)

I imagine you're sleeping off the alcohol now then? *g* (And I suspect only Southern hemisphere types can pull off the BBQ under a tree on Christmas Day ;D).

Hail is NEVER welcome!

Didn't drink much, but did stay up far too late working on some pinch-hitting ficdom, which has been a lot of fun. And yes, it still seems very un-Christmassy to be outside relaxing and throwing things about (went to the park for a repeat performance this evening), but it is ever so relaxing!

Was yours fun? Pr at least rewarding?

Oh yes, Santa's offerings were definitely much appreciated this year. *g*

Heheh, seriously though, I was a bit sad that the hail meant so many households deemed it dangerous to hang up lights outside (which was fair enough). Normally, dozens of people on our street hang up Christmas lights, so it was strangely dark this year. :/

Actually, I meant that BBQs aren't really fitting for people in the Northern hemisphere, given the snow and all, but running off to a park on Christmas seems logical for us - it's not like anything's open anyway. :) My family decided to try putt-putt golfing yesterday, which was heaps of fun, so yay for outdoor activities. :D

Sorry for friending you without prior notice, but a friend recced your SotF earlier and I was completely hooked. Do note that I was hooked enough to read it at work *grins*

I love how you gave these new characters life and personality; it felt so right for James to be such a womanizer, and Scorpius! So wonderful and a complete antithesis of his father at the same age!

Now that I've done my two-pence on constructive comments, I'll do the fangirly bit and squeal, "Update soon plz!"

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Cheers,
Kelly

Heh! Hi Kelly! Lovely to meet you, and I do think that mystery friends are quite delightful surprises, so no need to apologise ;-)

Thanks for letting me know how much you are enjoying the series so far! I did think that both Draco and Narcissa would work hard to make sure that Scorpius learns from their substantial mistakes. Because it was either that or leave the country, and who would feed the damned peacocks?

I have the concluding parts to Fathers partially done but have had a few days of delays leap out of nowhere to thwart me in my plans. Soon, I promise! A very Happy New Year back to you!

See, it's lines like this; Because it was either that or leave the country, and who would feed the damned peacocks? that just totally kills me. It's such an odd fact but the way you slide it in, and the way it just clicks with the whole story...Amazing.

I notice though, that peacocks are a recurring theme *grin*

My grandparents have a large place with large gardens and there were many stray birds that haunted my youth, peacocks among them (let us not speak of swans). I'd actually forgotten how mad they were until a recent visit to my friend's farm, which brought everything back in vibrant technicolour. I now plan to dispatch them fictionally whenever possible!
