Travelling to Melbourne part 1

Should you, as I am wont to do, misplace your Swiss Army knife, do not spend half an hour cleaning out your large handbag at 2 in the morning. You won't find it.

Instead, run said handbag through an airport security screening and rely on your natural charm and perpetual air of mad scientist to have the staff gently inform you of the knife's presence, while suggesting you could go back out and check your laptop bag, even pointing the way towards the express check-in lane where they can help you immediately.

If I actually was half the mad scientist I often look, I would have invented cold fusion by now, dammit!

Still, surprise jaunt underway, plane scheduled to leave on time, two lunches and a drinks sorted, looking forward to seeing dear RL friend, [personal profile] meredyth and [personal profile] pushdragon. Cats left in possession of food and water enough to last 36 hours, J same.  And I sent my much-delayed AS/S fest story off for final editing last night. Now all that remains is to meet up with right people at right times, find new coat and see exhibition!

Well, at least you didn't get strip searched for such an offense. *g*

I'd say have a wonderful time, but how could the three of you not. *secretly jealous*

ALAS, Meredyth has had to go home with a migraine while I was still inbound. But Push and I are teed up for a bar in half an hour, and I have a fabulous new red scarf. Ah Melbourne ... how much money I could spend here ...

If neither Push nor I are ever heard from again, and an anonymous bestseller featuring avocado porn sweeps the world, you alone will know the truth.

sometimes i want to ride around in your handbag just to observe.

hope all goes well.

You could probably fit -- it's a big handbag and you're tiny!

Ahahaha, that sounds like something I would do too!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, you'd have a cat. Monster climbed into my laptop pack and was very cross to be evicted. I have been told that I would have been even better received had I come bearing kitten ...

Oh, how I envy you! I hope you and Push have a fantastic time and that Meredyth gets better soon so she can join you! :)

And thanks for the handbag reminder. Mine is now so worn out that there's a huge hole in the lining, through which things like mobile phones and wallets and books slip with ease. Note to self: it's probably a good idea to check for knives and oddments before leaving on holiday.

It was jolly good! We talked about you, and bemoaned the distance to Norway, since costume porn rules!

Ah, your handbag sounds like my old overcoat; at least I could always find change for the Tube somewhere in there ...

[identity profile] pingrid.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad to have been there in spirit! :D Not to say spirits. Ah, but damn your exciting tales of drinks with wonderful fandom people; now I've developed a craving for an flist meetup.

My handbag mysteriously seems to trap everything but money.

I suspect your handbag is doing it just to be perverse.

I like Norway a great deal, but am not sure I want to pop by in November, not the greatest Norway month ...

[identity profile] pingrid.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, no. While you would certainly be welcome, I can't really reccommend it. :) Do let me know if you have plans to get a group together in the UK or somewhere close like that, though! I usually go to London to shop and visit museums around November anyway, so if it could be combined with meeting lovely flist that would be fantastic. :)

What a great way to find lost metal items... just go to the airport and wait in line for an hour. I think your knife was hiding from you on purpose.

Have a fabulous trip, and say hello to Pushdragon for me!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh Sydney airport is generally quite good, three or four minutes through security and the fasttrack check-in was another minute, bless em.

I did! Both!

When I am a multi-millionaire, we will organise it so that you are in on a lunch! With cocktails!
