Travelling to Melbourne, Part III

Memo to self: Remember all those fantastic relationships you had with wildly exciting and beautiful people back when you were young and how you would fall deeply for about five minutes, but assure yourself that it was fine because you could both walk away at any time, but then they would have an episode when you did because they suddenly thought you shouldn't go?

Don't mention to cities that you are enjoying your fling with their organised public transport, broad boulevards and delicious food, or they will hold you hostage in their airports. And they don't let you bring your cricket bat through security ...

Now you have to come to Canberra and visit me! I am jealous of the Melbourne trip, though. There's one for media students through college but I'm not a media student, so I can't go! :(

I do recommend Melbourne, but Spring might be less erratic in the weather department. I do need to be in Canberra in the next few months, so I'll let you know when I finally find a weekend and we can investigate your hot chocolate and cocktail scene!

Fabulous! I might be better for the hot chocolate, though! Or coffee, coffee is always good! :)

It's my super human powers of clinginess... I just wanted to keep you here until I was fit for human company again. :(

*clings*

HA! I have returned to the land of Great Wind and mad kitties. Apparently no one in Sydney noticed the wind that closed the airport for a while, and the kitties are ignoring me now I'm back. Sigh. But fear not, we'll be back, and Sno is looking to make it into a whole get-together!

*grins*

Hope you managed to get your cricket bat out eventually.

After gate changes, delays and no decent sandwiches, tea or hot chocolate, I was finally allowed to return to Sydney, only to have the car battery flat when I arrived. Luckily it's a $20 taxi!

More time to write, eh? :)

At least I hope you have a good book.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Sadly, I promptly ran out of power. But yes, good book. I had Lear's nonsense poems, very funny indeed! Home now, cats ignoring me.

They know that if they do that they'll get extra attention and treats. ;)

[identity profile] norton-gale.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That was me: got logged out!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 01:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, I bought you a treat, not them!

Cookie just came up to look at me, then kept going over to her corner. Oh how unconcerned with my feelings she is these days. What happened to 'You saved my life and I will love you forever!' She knows none of the classic H/D tropes.

As I typed that, Mon came and sat on my foot with her jiggly toy. Puppycat is back and I shall play with her!

[identity profile] norton-gale.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
A treat for me??? *watches mailbox with excitement*

I think you're fortunate that Cookie isn't familiar with the classic H/D tropes, such as "I hate you so much I think I may be in love with you."

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
She's more the "Do you have a free hand, could you please rub my tummy?" So frottage fics only.

I actually have a BIG ENVELOPE that I have been filling with treats for you for months. They are lame and small for the most part, but I will post it and you can laugh at them rather than me continuing to add.

[identity profile] norton-gale.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the BIG ENVELOPE is sure to be the highlight of my day! Hooray for stuff from Australia, especially when it's personally selected by someone of your charm and taste.

Oh, by the way, have you pinned down your schedule any further as far as trips to the US and Europe?

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I need to be in Florence for the first full week of November, that's it. I'll almost certainly end up booking tickets late and paying twice as much as I ought rather than try and deal with it before ... but I now have an old friend who's moved to Washington DC, and so the East Coast is calling.

[identity profile] norton-gale.livejournal.com 2008-06-13 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I can make it to DC or NYC, and if you are able to make it to Boston, I will personally investigate lodging for you. Luckily November is NOT the tourist season, so you have an excellent chance of getting decent accommodations at a reasonable price.

This inn is walking distance from our place, and close to the subway line as well. :)
