Goodness!

My trip to Florence is becoming more exciting by the day! And I will leave that cryptic note for the moment until more things are finalised.

I briefly contemplated becoming Stephenie Meyer's nemesis, but then, as I said to someone recently, I think she is more the Bay City Rollers of publishing than the U2 of same. And for everyone saying "Bay City Who?" well, exactly, time will take care of her. So I will use my time more purposefully.

Is it appalling of me that living more purposefully has turned out to mean writing Remus/Sirius darkfic? Still, at least two stories will be posted this month, one H/D and one AS/S, so for the people who are only here for the fic, there is light on the horizon.

Managed to post one of four fandom related packages today. It could well have been two, or even three, if I hadn't managed to lock myself out of the house for an hour. Oops.

i happen to enjoy the bay city rollers thank you very much. their tunes are catchy. how dare you insult them with this comparison. ;)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I bet you have tartan pyjamas, too! If it cheers you up, the comparison is regarding the permanence of their fame, not the level of their talent.

No no, it's the right direction, never doubt that!

(And yaaaay! :D)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I am so loving thinking about them. It's very wrong. YAAAAAAAAAY indeed!

[identity profile] empress-jae.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
like i've said before they were a gift and very comfortable!

and you have a very good point. all of the rollers were trained and talented musicians, but why they became famous is beyond me. i would think that you could also compare SM to britney spears. britney was musically trained as a child, SM went to college and got a degree in english. they both have the background, but are just barely mediocre in what they create. yet the fame is blinding. i just wish someone would explain to me like i'm 5 years old how and WHY this happens.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It's because some literary and music publishers are utterly amoral and will pimp crap to idiots in order to make money. They pretend that this is less appalling than selling crack, but it's not.

[identity profile] deensey.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh the bay city rollers. AHAHAHA. I love it.

[identity profile] empress-jae.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
i'd rather take the crack. at least with that, i'd REALLY see the music.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:27 pm (UTC)(link)
But, you know, without the artistic integrity.

[identity profile] deensey.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
The BCR had artistic integrity?

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
They wrote their own songs and played their own instruments, in pop music terms, that's oodles of cred. Still haven't brought the shelves inside, BTW.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but then your nose would fall off.

[identity profile] deensey.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Stephanie Meyer writes her own words, and creates her own mythos of vampires!

LOL

Oh man.

[identity profile] pingrid.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I love Remus/Sirius, and I can't wait to see what you come up with for them! Really looking forward to the darkfest; I hope to challenge myself to write something really disgusting, but you never know.

[identity profile] themadpoker.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
=( But if you were Meyer's nemesis I could have volunteered for sidekickhood! And by volunteer I mean pull a Robin 4 and keep showing up till I gain the status by default. =D

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 01:58 pm (UTC)(link)
creates her own mythos of vampires

Which is to say, did no research whatsoever.

The BCR played in previously established keys, you know.

[identity profile] deensey.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
YOU SHOULD. YOU'D GET MONEY AND MILLIONS OF LOYAL READERS!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
That would almost be worth it to plot her downfall with you, but I don't think we ought to wear our undies on the outside for anyone.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Should what? become her literary nemesis? I suppose it would finally mean I could recycle that old abandoned novel about the Greek Gods hanging out in 1980s London (because the music scene there was better than that on Santorini)

[identity profile] deensey.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh honey, DOOOOOOOO IT. You'd make MILLIONS.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure I can write badly enough for the contemporary market. Also, I'd have to learn new bands, all the ones in the original are dead. Though I could just substitute The Wombats who sound like half of those bands ...

[identity profile] winnett.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
i assumed the bay city rollers was a roller derby team.

[identity profile] deensey.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey man, don't diss Spoiler!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I love them, too. I have been working on a very long Remus-centric story in the back of my head for months, but I think this one will be Sirius-centred and I already know the end and it is terribly sad. I think I should also write some sex, Cal will never guess it's me!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-06 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Well, to judge by their outfits, I can see that ...
