Reccity reccity rec rec rec!!

On the sixth day of Christmas, [livejournal.com profile] hd_holidays  gave to me THE BEST THING EVER!!!

Oh, all right, probably not quite as good for the world as penicillin and flushing loos, but it is on the same list as them! And hush whoever is saying that being compared to a flushing loo is not a compliment, go and live on a pit-toiletted commune for a few weeks and you will soon change your mind!

It's four panels of the most beautiful, clever, delicious and narrative art you can imagine. All so beautifully wrought that you can imagine it has been lifted straight from the pages of limited edition illustrated book, £300 per numbered copy. But it's free, and on LJ, and for me!

The artist is someone I actually know, and she is fabulously talented, though I think I am not meant to mention her name for the three of you who will not know it. ([livejournal.com profile] shu_shu_sleeps , I will message you with links to more of her stuff if you like). So you know that there will be a giggle in there, and nothing to scare the horses. But what she does, playing off my incredibly helpful prompts of ... er, Aurors are cool ..., is construct a four-panel story that tells volumes about its two heroes, the people around them, and the possibilities they find for themselves and each other. She once told me that she thinks art might be a word that is pitched too high for what she does. It's the one time I believe her words to have been pure and utter nonsense.

Here's the link again, it's called Thaw, and it is utterly, wholly, beautiful. And in a few weeks I will tell you all the story of why she is so very tricksy!

Oh - and has she considered fashion design - the jackets in the first panel are gorgeous......

She does clever things with architecture ... messaging her details to you. (And while I often ask myself what I am doing in fandom, art like this is what makes me say 'Oh! Yes, that's right!')

I adored it. I adored it so much I'm not sure I have the words to tell her hao much I adored it so I just used exclamation marks liek WOAH. thing is when I poked ur linky and I saw the sky I was like COOL! I knoe who that is, must be somthing RLY good cause her sky is unmistakable. The only way I can describe it is like the place of ur dreams when ur dreams are about a place u so long to go but have never been. Does that maek sense? And then when I saw their faces. Draco's face looked like the sky, didn't it? And yeah. It's like. WHAT H/D is all about to me. Because Ron and Harry off to one side, so knowing that as alone as they've been in the world (Ron because of being one of many and Harry bc of not being anything to anyone at all) they'd never be rly alone again. And Draco? He gets flanked by these boulders of peeps (Greg&Vince) so that he doesn't ever rly have to get close to anyone. And it's that OTHERNESS that draws us to Draco IMO. That apartness. And then in the second panel he seems younger, lost the early sky thing. And the expression on his face it's so sweetly wicked. :))))))))))) AND! The expression on Harry's face all stoic brit is so priceless. OF COURSE! The armpit hair that makes u think of hair in other places, all the promise of mebe intimacy or somthing. ANDTHEN! The 3rd panel with that playfulness, and finally they ARE their age. Already comfortable with each other and making everyone else go CRAZY! and then and then and then THE LAST PANEL! with Harry and Draco kissing. I love the curve of Harry's back slouched forward in that skinny teenage way into Draco but still a bit hesitant, tasting somthing new. AND!!! It looks like dawn and morning and then afternoon and nite, as if it could be both a long period of time or a Shakespeare day. :DDDDDDDDDDDDD

So lovely. U are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY lucky.

I KNOW! I feel as though the universe has said 'Um, sorry about all the broken bones and the other weirdness we've dropped on your doorstep, er, here's something REALLY SPECTACULAR, are we even?'

And I have to say 'Quite nearly!'

Your reading is a really good one, and captures so much of what is in the work. It all makes perfect sense, especially for panel three!
