A short list of things

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [personal profile] hogwartsvixxxen ! I hope you have a wonderful day, and thank you for all the support and brightness you bring to the world. I hope this year is better and easier for you than last!

And now, a few links across my flist.
[livejournal.com profile] annafugazzi  has a brilliant link that shows why George Takei is an international treasure right here.
* The ever-lovely [livejournal.com profile] dysonrules  has her post of anti-wank here. It is a place of much niceness!
* Filled with joy and glee about things you have read in the HP fandom that were H/D or Next Gen? Share the happy! Funky Faynia's list of all things AS/S is here.  Marvy Maggie's list of all other Next Gen and Crossover fics is here. And Brilliant Bryoney's list of H/D recs is here. While we're on the topic, can anyone point me in the direction of the best R/S?
* That stylish young artist [livejournal.com profile] raitala  has been hosting an extensive conversation on our experiences with being new and older in fandom. The comments are fascinating! If you have a spare half hour, take a read through here.

Must dash off to work on a beta, and the apparently Giant Instructions On Writing for the lovely gh, who knows who she is.

Can we skip to the porn tutorial please?

I was going to outsource that bit. I hear the Indians are very very good.

D'you know what? I've never read, nor owned a copy, of the Kama Sutra. I almost can't believe that.

I did have a copy of the Joy of Sex once. The beards and hairy muffs stopped me taking it seriously.

I once made about 1263 Indians giggle by pointing at a temple carving and asking in my loud small-child voice 'Daddy? What is that man doing to that lady?'

He replied 'Helping her keep her balance, dear.'

The JoS people always gave me commune flashbacks. Bloody hippies and their razor aversions.

And now I can't shake the Animagus version of 'congress of the cow' plot bunny circling my brain.

Write it! WRIIIIITE IIIIIT!

(First take your sharpened pencil ...)

I sort of feel sorry for Harry, because there's no way Draco would ever be an animagus cow. D'you think male-to-female animagus transofrmations are acceptable? I'm thinking of swollen udders and the milk of love....

I never thought I would meet anyone whose mind scared me more than my father's, but you may be the one ...

I went to the royal show at Stoneleigh when I was about 10, on a school trip. I remember one of the first exhibits I came across as I entered the enclosure. It was a cowshed decked out with all the newest machinery for animal husbandry. I particularly remember these awesome giveaway PVC gloves they had - they were huge, and stretched all the way to your shoulder. I merrily scarfed a load and put them in my handy carrier bag. It was only as I was leaving the display that I heard one of the staff members describing how the gloves were useful for examining cows' rectums and vaginal canals....

I know those gloves well, we used them with the horses, too. And as one of our vets was fond of saying: 'Brammers, your arms are long, thin and strong ...' Lazy fucker.
