Cat's Cradle

I realised why the childhood string game is called cat's cradle today.

Last night Cookie was prancing about with a ball of perle cotton in her mouth, feeling very proud of herself for finding such a treasure.

This evening, when I arrived home, there was a network of threads strung about the living room, around pieces of furniture, through the cat tunnel (in three separate passes), and out into the kitchen. In the middle of the mess were two kitties happily chewing on the threads. I don't think I want to weave anything with that thread anymore ... kitty saliva is a bit manky.

In other kitty news, I have worked out how to podcast! So far all of my test pieces end after a few minutes with "Oof! Monster! You cannot eat the headset, and get off my diaphragm!"
"Mroaw?"
"There are no cats in Sansa's fic!"
"MROAWWWW?"
"You are no help."

Theoretically. What I am actually doing is reading a few lines and then telling the cat to stop jumping on me. Aside from the occasion when J comes out and asks me how the recording is going, when I tell him off instead ;-)

So how exactly did you get involved? Raitala mentioned she'd hoped a few of the Brits on her flist might do some readings, but is it being coordinated somehow? Who knows who's reading what? Are you using a microphone and how does all that work? I don't have one - can I do it without?

AHAHAHAHAHA! You could well be right! I firstly nearly tripped on the yarn, and then was laughing so hard I nearly fell over anyway!

I believe that is the rule of fine vacations. Though since moving to Australia, I find they tend to end with a day-long flight (or drive). Things are more torturous here.

(Very quietly between us, the Much-loved Min Cat of Warm Memory had one terrible habit, which was jumping onto and then balancing on whichever back was on top. She thought the collapsing in laughter was all part of the be amusing for Min game.)

I'll see if one of the tests is suitable for podding when I'm done, there is much arghing!

Oh, but that's exactly the kind of audio I would just LOVE to hear :-))) I'm such a sucker for audios of all kinds and very often have a little voice recorder with me to record whatever I think is interesting. (The kids singing or reciting poems etc. at school or my niece, or even my cats meowing...)

Yay for kitty-cast! I think that could be a regular feature of your LJ. I can't wait for your podcast! I was actually debating recording one of my own as a bit of a humourous gift for Bri - she seems to think I have a soothing kind auntie voice. Clearly, she's never heard my excited screeching or indoor/outdoor voice confusion. lol

I am knackered! Which is probably a result of not enough sleep. But getting somewhere with the many unfinished projects, albeit slowly.

You should definitely do one, too. Have you heard Leochi's? V cool indeed!

As for giving these little buggers airtime ... they already think they are the centre of the world. If they weren't so cute, they would be gloves!

At least it was just a small ball of perle. Monster went trotting through the house with a giant ball of 14-ply NZ merino the other day, four times the size of her head, proudly holding it in her teeth (just). Haven't found it yet ...

Yay audio fic! I've been making my own with SpokenText.net and the text-to-speech software on my computer to listen to during my commute, but recently discovered a multi-fandom audiofic archive after one of lovely_slyth (aka olivia_lupin)'s fics went up there.

Allison (who is very nice) has posted a basic "how to create podfic" and has linked to other tutorials as well, if you're having trouble or just want to see how other people do it. I haven't done it myself, so I can't tell you if they have any cat advice.

It's sadly low on Snarry, but I'm working my way through the Drarry fic there. :) Good luck with your cats, and hope to listen to yours soon!
