Kitty picspam, and a duck.

Since I last posted photos of the cats, they have grown somewhat ...

This is the Cookie in her position of power at the top of the tower. From here she can survey her demesne, and demand pats. It's not readily obvious from the shot, but her eyes are a lovely sea green.

This is the Monster, slugging around in her Monsterly fashion. She has an incredible gift for not carrying balls of wool or toys about whenever there is a camera handy. The toy you can see at her back paws was being held winningly in her mouth as I was opening the camera case. She is still growing into her various body parts, as you can see, though the emo facial expression she is wearing is a common feature of this kitten.

And here's an artistic rendering of the Cookie! by the wonderful [personal profile] leochi!

They have a number of special places they like to hang out, the tunnel being one of the top three ...

The tower being another ...

And, of course, the new favourite, the empty shelf on the new bookshelves ...

And, of course, there are never any disputes over who has what space at any given time.

You can feel the love, can't you?

Also, as promised, the Duck of Rundle Mall.

yaye kittehs!

that last one of the two of them fighting for dominance is priceless!

and that duck is so cute.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
The funny thing is that Mon is always the one going in with guns blazing, but she can be defeated by a lazy bat of a Cookie paw, despite the fact that she is considerably heavier than Cookie. I believe the Cook has trained the Mon to Fear Her.

It was a good duck!

[identity profile] annes-stuff.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I can't wait, I get to meet the kitties in a month!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
They will be emo at you! But patting and feeding will relax them!

[identity profile] annes-stuff.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I mentioned this to you on the weekend but you need to come back in the Spring. I will take you on a walk through the Botanic Gardens and you often see mother ducks with their ducklings traling behind them.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not going ANYWHERE this Spring! Just looked at the finances and I will be eating bread in Italy. Maybe I can sell some of my fabric stash ...

[identity profile] annes-stuff.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I can do that.

How do they take to strangers?

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
They sit and look at them for a while to see if they can make them go away and get out of their seats, then they sit on them.

[identity profile] annes-stuff.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh darn. I will have to go for a walk and take pictures for you. They are so cute.

Maybe I can sell some of my fabric stash ...

Do you apprentices get first pick? ;-)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
If it comes to that, yes. But I suspect I will just pick up some more freelance gigs, they pay better.

[identity profile] annes-stuff.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Either way, take care of yourself, please?

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Am taking care! Going to bed soon and it's not even 2!

[identity profile] annes-stuff.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Good.

I am about to go to bed myself.

I was just talking to Acacia on Skype and she helped me fix this Job Ap for that AO3 position I told you about. It doesn't need to be submitted until tomorrow 5pm so I will give it the once over in the morning.

Your Tuxedo looks remarkably like my Miss Maybelline. I love cats!

Peace,
Bubba

Cookie looks really big. Perhaps that's just her fearsome ruff of hair?

She looks like she belongs on that bookshelf. :)

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
There is a particular type ;-) She is a very quiet little girl, but will insist that she needs to be on the lap or fed now, and gives such a commanding look I can't resist (particularly knowing that she was abandoned originally).

And so do I.
ext_7906: (other - kitty!)

[identity profile] complications-g.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, they're gorgeous!

Cookie is adorably fluffy up top, it's great!

And my cat, Milly, has the same colouring as Monster!

Wow, when cats are involved, I can't stop exclaiming! (I have a problem, k?) ;D

[identity profile] absynthedrinker.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
If you like cats and an entertaining story I recommend this.

Funny and charming! Might be a little difficult to find.

Peace,
Bubba

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)
She is only 3.6kg and not really very big, but she is immensely fluffy, particularly if you compare her to http://blamebrampton.livejournal.com/22545.html#cutid1
which is what she looked like when we found her at the pound. She weighed 2kg then, I think it's safe to say that she is thriving.

And yes, she loves the bookshelf, though she is cranky with me as I took some of the space back for books. Monster has adopted it, though, so it will still be a kitty space.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:29 pm (UTC)(link)
She is very fluffy! And very flopsy, when you pick her up she just flops over your arms or shoulder. It's very sweet.

Milly is a great name for a cat! And tortiseshells are always wonderful. I have the same problem, so don't let it worry you!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
That looks brilliant! I will try and track a copy down. There are some good bookshops near me, so I have my fingers crossed. Thank you for the rec.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
good luck!

[identity profile] norton-gale.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I push my books up to the edge, which deters the kitties. They prefer the windowsills, and the back of the sofa (when humans are sitting on it, of course).

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2008-08-25 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Cookie is on the back of the sofa right now! Though I have to admit there is a pillow there for her, it was left when a young friend slept over, and has never been moved since she adopted it.
