Oh bloody hell ...

The back door was wide open (we suspect Monster). Both cats could not be found, a quick squawk brought Mon out from her hiding place under the outside table (hurrah for an agoraphobic cat!), but Cookie is still missing 40 minutes later. Everything else is suspended until the return of the little cat!

Cookie is found! She was asleep in a half-open drawer the whole time! That cat could sleep for England ... HURRAH! and PHEW!

I gave her SUCH a cuddling, and she must have known I was upset, because she didn't squirm off over my shoulder. But she did give me the look of 'Good grief, woman, I'm a cat, not a toddler! I can take care of myself!'

I just vicariously experienced relief through you. Once upon a time my cat was left unsupervised/let out by other people and never came back. Well, she was badass and independent, I'm pretty sure she took care of herself, but I was devastated and haven't had another cat since. *gets maudlin*

Oh darling, that's horrible! I am usually a finder of cats, and live in horror of losing one. Thank goodness that Cookie is at heart a bit lazy, and Monster is a big scaredy cat!
