Oh bloody hell ...

The back door was wide open (we suspect Monster). Both cats could not be found, a quick squawk brought Mon out from her hiding place under the outside table (hurrah for an agoraphobic cat!), but Cookie is still missing 40 minutes later. Everything else is suspended until the return of the little cat!

Cookie is found! She was asleep in a half-open drawer the whole time! That cat could sleep for England ... HURRAH! and PHEW!

Let us know when you find Cookie.

Ours have hidden in fear behind planters, hidden under the next door neighbours bed, and... er... been in the house all the time.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
I have hopes that she is in the house, she can hide for England ... but she was an outdoor cat before she went to the pound and came here, so she may have decided to embark on an adventure. I've done a lap of the streets and called out quite a bit, now I am just waiting very, very nervously. If she is not back by tomorrow, I will take the day off and canvas the neighbourhood. At least she is tagged!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 12:27 pm (UTC)(link)
FOUND! She was sound asleep in a drawer, ignoring my shouts and shaking of the kibble pot. Thank goodness! She shows a deep lack of concern for my panic, though submitted amicably to all the hugs that were lavished upon her when I spotted a glimpse of her furry little bum between the towels.

I hope Cookie is home by now... The first time mine went out scared me silly.

Not yet, and I am scared silly! Thank goodness Mon is a little thickie and sat under the table beside the door!

Please update us when Cookie is found. *sends cat-finding signals*

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
I will. I hope it is soon as I am very anxious -- she is so little and soft! Thank you for the signals -- follow them home, you little bugger!

I hope you find her soon!
My parents' cat is usually hiding on the roof. He gets up there easily, but doesn't know how to get down again. Cats get stuck on trees a lot, too.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
I thought I heard her on the roof, but when we looked, there was no one there. There is a high part of the roof we cannot see, she may be hding up there being naughty. I am just waiting for her to become hungry, as she is a greedy little muppet and will hopefully come back for kibbles! Couldn't see her in any trees, but if she is not back by the morning I will have a good look around in daylight. And a minor nervous breakdown.

Fletcher (ginger & white) and Molly (tuxedo) went missing once after a door ajar incident - hubby and I ran frantically around trying to find them only to find them curled up on top of each other behind the telly! Oh and friend's kitty Magsie went missing for 4 days only to be found in the neighbors shed steadily devouring a massive sack of dog food - she was in heaven!!

Here's to safe and sound kitties everywhere - she'll turn up!!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 12:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Fingers crossed! She has snuck outside once before and was cheerfully chasing a grasshopper in the side garden, and on her first day here she spent 8 hours hiding in the chimney -- if I am very lucky she will appear soon having been asleep in a secret Cookie spot the whole time. Or I will chew off all my nails ...

HURRAH! KITTY CRISIS OVER! KITTY FOUND! Let's celebrate with macarons! \o/

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I gave her SUCH a cuddling, and she must have known I was upset, because she didn't squirm off over my shoulder. But she did give me the look of 'Good grief, woman, I'm a cat, not a toddler! I can take care of myself!'

Little toad, hiding in the house the entire time! Glad you found her safe & sound eventually.

Cookie its not nice to give mummy and daddy minor heart failure. You should come when you are called, naughty kitty.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I KNOW!

She did the same thing for eight hours the day after we got her, we eventually found her at the bottom of the chimney, which has one of those grate things over it, and I had stuck my arm into the small gap to take photos, but she was a black cat on a black background ... and when I say we found her, what I mean is that eight hours later she put her head out, miaowed, and wanted to play. Right now she is giving us looks that clearly indicate she thinks we are weird.

Hahah, why go through an open door when drawers beckon. Very glad.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, thank goodness her passion for a comfy hidey-hole outweighs most other things in life!

[identity profile] raitala.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Phew! It is heart stopping when that happens!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 01:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I know that lap cat!

And yes ... I did laps of our block, checked down along the railway, on the roof ... where I first went wrong was in letting Mr B check inside, as he gave a Man Look for her. When I followed in his footsteps, I quickly discerned the difference between towels and a fluffy cat bum. Still taking deep cleansing breaths.

Kitty crisis averted! They find the strangest places to curl up in, don't they?

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 01:32 pm (UTC)(link)
They both have a passion for drawers, though Mr B alleged he had already looked in there and under the bed. I had gone to search between the curtains in hopes that she was snuggled in there, and saw her fluffiness!

I am very relieved that Monster did not decide to have a big adventure once she was outside, hiding under the table was quite enough for her!

[identity profile] emmacmf.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL, little madam, scaring her humans like that. Glad you found her safe and sound.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolute heart failure was well advanced on my part. She is a brave little creature, so could well have chased after an intruder cat (even though she can only see the garden from inside, it is obviously hers) and then found herself either wondering where she was, or else a small cat in a big-cat fight (and cats are rather large in Australia!)

[identity profile] elissande.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Hooray for cats found! They can be a worry sometimes. Our cats are indoor/outdoor ones (we have a big garden) so I don't worry until one hasn't come home to eat. Have spent many a night calling round the local streets to find the cat has since returned home and is asleep on the sofa!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! Yes, I did send the fella off to look for her inside while I looked outside, alas, he looked with Man Eyes. In older times, when windows were left open, we would find cats asleep on the sofa that were not in fact our cats. Apparently there is a note scratched onto the fence that we are soft touches when it comes to fish, and give good scratches.

Monster opened the door by herself?

Wow.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
It has a straight handle, she likes to climb the screen, and she has not inconsiderable bulk in her bum, so we think that on the way down, the bum made contact with the handle, and suddenly she found herself swinging outwards ... Monkey cat!

I'm glad you found her! I would have been so scared. *pets them both*

One of my cats keeps jumping into my pajama drawer when I leave it open, and somehow the force of her jump closes the drawer partway so she can't get out. She does not discover this until hours later, though, after her nap is done, at which point she starts clawing frantically. She has done that twice so far in the last few months. I need to remember to leave that drawer closed!

[identity profile] enchanted-jae.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a sick, scary feeling, isn't it? Glad they're both safe and accounted for.

[identity profile] blueboyfey.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay for returned kitteh!! Cookie is like me, she can sleep anywhere! She defies any place to try and prevent precious Zs! Like me, I bet she's slept on the Golden Gate Bridge (actually on the bridge, not while driving over it), in the stands of a football stadium, in various parks when the afternoon sun just makes her drowsy, under a table because a Z attack can happen at any time! It's a super hero power. Not many have it. But don't worry, we're still just like you. Cookie and I don't like to talk about it, but we're not really gods.

[identity profile] embolinaoz.livejournal.com 2011-02-13 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
