Panda Impersonators, represent!

The dark circles under my eyes have reached epic proportions. In fact, were it not for the good advice recently offered by flistees on under-eye concealer, one could be mistaken for wondering if the panda breeding programme in Adelaide had met with some success. As it is, it's a ten-minute make-up job before I can leave the house, unless I want to attract the sympathy of strangers as the day carries on. I would whine about the work that is causing this, but even I would be bored.

It's flogging down in Sydney at the moment, and has been for a few days. I even caught a cab to work this morning, because I was so wet by the time I made it to the street (40 metres) that I could foresee squishy feet at the end of a 15 minute walk. The driver was Kenyan and so we had a good chat about the East African Drought and Famine at the same time as he tried to convince me I should take the day off because I have an earache. Alas, I also have a thousand things to do and tartan earmuffs that keep the pain at manageable levels, so work it was. Though in my absence the house developed at least two leaks. Happily, we still have clean buckets inside after the Great Vomiting Saga.

The excellent news of the day was that I heard back from my soon-to-be ukulele teacher! We need only decide on a date and the next step in my progress will begin! Have so far learned all natural notes, all major chords, half the minor chords and all the 7ths. Can play Aura Lee competently, Someone Like You poorly, and Over the Rainbow reasonably well, but am woeful at figuring out The Biggest Aspidistra in the World. I have a digital recorder on my shopping list for this month, soon, my pretties, soon you will be subjected to the horror that is! (And your little dog, too!)

Now to go and try to finish a pinch-hit. I think that finishing Fathers might have used up all my finishing energy for the month ... must crack on, it can be done!

At least vomiting had good consequences, you're well-equipped? Take care of your ears!

Cannot wait for the magic sounds of your ukulele! I wonder if one can play Handel on the ukulele?

And I wonder if the pinch-hit is your traditional pairing, or something different?

I've been reading your fic lately, and obviously your writing has many other things going for it, but god, I cannot tell you how nice it is to read things where I don't have to be afraid of sudden misogyny or homophobia or unexpected character hatred the instant I let my guard down. Coming back to HP as a reader after years away is like a minefield, I have no idea which authors to avoid. (So I guess this is basically to say: thank you for writing excellent fic in which you have affection for all of your characters! Much appreciated.)

It's been in the neighborhood of 38C here (give or take a degree or two) all week. We are all about to melt.

If you just buy a microphone and use your computer, it might be cheaper? Unless you want Awesome Sound, in which case, nevermind.
