Surfaces from the depths …

I have a proper post, with THINGS, and then another very serious post, with important things, but I have to get this out first, or will be drummed out of the country:

GO BLACK CAVIAR!

Having grown up around various corners of the horse industry, I'm always a bit ambivalent about racing, but she is a beautiful and much-loved mare who really loves to run. And is AMAZING.

Of course, being a horse, she may take one look at Royal Ascot and decide 'Nah, buggrit …' They're like much bigger, somewhat dimmer cats that way.

We are very excited about Black Caviar here too. The week is being bookended by the two best flat racehorses in the world at the moment. The start was Frankel, undoubtedly the best miler in the world and the highest rated racehorse since the days of Sea Bird II and Brigadier Gerard.

Black Caviar seems to have travelled and worked well. Looking forward to this afternoon.

I've never even heard of her. What a beauty.

Whew!

Ascot is a stiff six furlongs, much of it uphill, and her jockey didn't help, but the record stands intact - just.

She did beautifully! YAY Black Caviar, long may she continue to love to run :)
