The BBC one is up and down, but when it is up, it is very very up! Interesting that Watson is a hired companion, the equality of their relationship has always been the key, so it will be intriguing to see how that works.
I know what you mean about locations: both London and Sydney-based programmes have scene one 15km from scene two, when characters are meant to have walked there in three minutes ;-)
