As for the end of the world: Somebody said something about 6pm our time which would be about noon for the Mayas. 15 minutes left. :D And some other people said that the calculations are off by 104 years. How could THAT happen? *shakes head*
Oh well, one of these days, one of them will be right - but then he or she won't even be able to gloat... *giggle*
