Boxing Day in the park

In a Boxing Day tradition, we slept in, then watched a video. Instead of the traditional Lord of the Rings, we watched a doco I had recorded called The Truth About Exercise, which was all about the profoundly positive impact exercise has on your body.

After it, Mr B (as I had predicted) said 'We should go for a bike ride!' Which was a terrific idea, because my spin class wasn't on and my legs were all twitchy. I took the Lady Bike out, which was her first outing in months, and because she is a beautiful giant beast of a thing, especially compared to my normal nimble mountain bike, I spent most of the ride a little way behind Mr B.

Which meant I was in the perfect position to see the funniest moment of the week. We rode up towards the playground in Sydney Park, and there was a group of people off to one side with their dogs playing. One of them was a small fluffy tan puppy, who was running at a great rate of knots downhill towards the path, down which Mr B was riding.

I was about to ring my bell and shout, when they saw each other and both hit the brakes. On Mr B's part, this was a boring action.

On the puppy's part, this consisted of sitting back onto its bottom and sliding down the slope, frantically backpedalling with its front paws in the time-honoured manner of a cartoon puppy or kitten.

Both stopped in good order and disaster was avoided, and the puppy was showered with love and approval. Also, I did not fall of my bike laughing, which was a near thing!

Happy Boxing Day, darling, and thank you for the lovely card. Sounds like you were a lot more active on Boxing Day than we're being, but that being said, it is pissing down with rain here still. We've had rain in Australianesque quantities, which I love, but which the country seems to be drowning under. Apparently the wettest year since records began, or something of that nature.

As mentioned briefly in Twitter, C and I visited the V&A Hollywood Costume exhibition, and oh, I wish you could have been there. The costumes, the materials, the beading - I think you would have loved it. There were some lovely displays, quite well thought out, and some of the accompanying material was quite thought provoking. I was impressed (not quite as impressed with the actual organising of it, but that's another story). Sadly I'm not sure I'll get back to see the ballgown exhibition before it closes, but I will try.

*hugs*

Oooooh, I've been meaning to go to the Hollywood Costume Exhibit! And I spied a small part of the ballgown exhibition from one of the V&A walkways - must got and do that soon!

Oh, and, totally had a clear image of that encounter and giggled :)

I've been bicycling myself today, only I stayed indoors since we have all the snow.

That puppy should have been filmed. :)

Heh, the puppy image made me giggle :) Since we moved recently, we're now near a great off leash park that has a good group of regular dogs (and owners) that all play well together. Currently there is a 16 week old Hungarian vizsla puppy that is providing loads of entertainment with its antics. It's at that age when it is still all elbows and ears. Cracks me up every time. Especially when it's trying to play with the much older and much bigger Alaskan malamute, whose tactic when it gets annoyed with the pup is to sit on it :) Puppies should be a PBS listed therapy.
