January 1 post

I do not know when this post will actually post, because LJ is working with the same skill and efficiency as a first-world politician dealing with climate change. But it will be dated for the first so that I can wish
laurellias,
no_mad_skillz and
pennynovelette the most joyous of birthdays!
There are things in life grimmer than the January birthday. The Boxing Day birthday, springs to mind. But no-one is going to pretend that it is a joy going through life with friends and family inclined to deliver a 'combined' present, or too hungover to make a fuss, or the best places closed for the public holiday. So instead, I wish for you all friends and family who have all made a brilliant effort on your behalf, who celebrated the New Year moderately, knowing the real excitement was each of you, and who budgeted wisely through the Silly Season so they could get you the Exact Right Thing. And a good local place to pick up a cake that feels it is their moral duty to make sure you have one.
I hope that your present is at least this good. And you may need to click the link because LJ has been a beast about inserting images for me.

I have to go back to work tomorrow. I feel it is unlikely I will be at my shining best …

Date: 2013-01-01 02:53 pm (UTC)He's actually a chap on Reddit, who Mr B (the household redditer) pointed out, but we could recreate a slightly shopworn facsimile from items in this house except for the pipe. Cat would be slightly more attractive, man slightly less gym-honed (because Mr B is a Giant Slug when it comes to exercising!)

Saw Hobbit tonight. LOVED! But now have to go to bed after trying to get LJ to work well enough for me to rec a few more hols bits (especially one) and rave about it.
