Do, do, do the headless chicken *

My lovely friend
ecosopher has just posted about the fact that her life is a whirl in which she finds little time for LJ right now. She has multiple children, does an enormous number of things in her community, is creatively productive, cooks healthy food and can see surfaces in her kitchen.
I have the same problem, but no children, am behind on EVERYTHING, and had a mugful of ice-cream for dinner because I could not face doing the dishes. I am giving myself a T for Troll at Being an Adult.
However, one success for the day, I met
dragonfly_lily! She and her delightful husband were in town and we were able to catch up for brunch. EXACTLY as she sounds on LJ, funny, generous, clever and just nice, which is one of my favourite qualities. Though we both did that mad girl thing of describing ourselves for recognition purposes in terms of our hair, while she has the most incredible eyes, but I suppose it is a bit odd to say 'Look for the woman with eyes as clear as the sky', and if we were being all literal and specific, I would say 'Look for the short woman who darts around instead of walking like a rational person', which is more distinctive than my hair, but silly.
Thoroughly recommend catching up with her if she is ever headed your way (and given how much they travel, you could be in luck), as aside from the lovely fandom side of things, there is something very happy-making about meeting people who just love each other the way she and her husband do. And I also had the joy of seeing their innocent American faces go all wide-eyed when they realised the sheer variety of flavours Tim Tams are available in!
All day I have been thinking that I have missed someone's birthday, and I think it's actually
mahaliem, who is one of the very finest writers in fandom (and generally) and for whom I wish the most wonderful of days with love and treats from everyone, especially those cats! May the present fairies require a massage after their visit to you!
Oh cock in a sock! I've remembered! It's
deensey and
calanthe_fics ' birthdays on the same day as mahaliem! I knew it was an all-awesome day! DAMNIT, D lives in Sydney. At least I still have time to email Cal on the right day! I love you both, darlings! And I don't even deserve that T! I just need to get to next Tuesday and things will be less frantic, at which point I will play catch-up!

Date: 2013-02-06 05:18 pm (UTC)I just realised I forgot where I got the white KitKat from that might be nicer than Neuhaus chocolate and maybe similar to some TimTams in the salty to sweet ratio, but then it's been decades and I never had white TimTams.
I forgot what the tune goes with and now the cock in the sock does the Funky Gibbon.

Date: 2013-02-09 02:30 pm (UTC)YOu know, I think you can still get white kit-kats here. I could send some and some white tim tams and you could compare!
Oh, I had so much more to say to you, but I have run out of go and it is late enough that I should accept this and fall into bed. Send me an address and I will send you bad food!

Date: 2013-02-09 02:20 pm (UTC)Thank you, dear! I am very fond of yours, too, though I sometimes feel a bit ridiculous by comparison, but at least it is amusingly ridiculous and with helpfully handy expressions ;-)

Date: 2013-02-07 02:01 am (UTC)HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! And to completely shatter any illusions you might have, we had pancakes for tea. Or the children and M did. I had porridge. Because that's just so nutritionally balanced, what with all the vegetables.
Ice cream also sounds good. I would have had that too (M kept suggesting it after the children were finally in bed) but I was too full from the porridge :D
FWIW I think you have an exceedingly interesting life. It's always lovely to hear about it, and I'm glad that I come across as some very busy and accomplished person. Obviously I am better at writing fiction than I thought... ;P

Date: 2013-02-09 02:17 pm (UTC)I enjoy hearing about your life, too. I was going to blog today, but am too tired, and my only amusing moment was accidentally panicking people at Gunners' Tea Rooms when I fed a baby magpie and its parents turned up hoping for more food: I did not know that Fear of Magpies was a thing Australians did. If it had been a shark, sure, but it was birds begging three feet away and no risk of them coming any closer. Staff flapping, girls squawking, babies being shielded by their mothers …
Here's a tip, strange woman at the tea rooms: if you shield your baby from the sight of a bird, he or she is never going to grow up feeling confident that he or she is an apex predator, which means the best you can hope for is a career as a bank clerk. And, while honourable work for an honest day's pay, that should be no child's dream!
