Oh no!

Jones has a home!

Obviously this has all been organised by someone who was neither me nor Mr Brammers as we have been spending all our time playing with him, but – tragically – it is a lovely young cat-centric chap who is living in his first house without a cat and not coping and has a small Jack Russell living with him who is also missing living with a cat. The dog belongs to one of the housemates (three young lads, all cat loving) and they all think the cat should be an indoors cat until they have a cat run outside and think that it would be a good idea to desex him as soon as it is medically a good plan. And he has enough money for vet bills. I may have interrogated him a little.

I can't come up with a single reason why Jones shouldn't go to live with this lovely young chap. Aside from the fact we just love him, but he will have more fun there than here, and our cats will have more calm without him. Bugger!

Monster the cat has an inkling and is writing us a thank you note even as I type*.

He goes on Thursday, so this will be one of the last kitten pix:

*By which I mean purring and not vomiting up her cat food in the bedroom doorway. She's not technically literate, but she is very expressive.

Oh, this is very sad! I mean, sure, it's inconvenient with a kitten, but aren't they just so awesome?!!

I hope he's very happy in his new place.

He will be, dammit! And Cookie and Monster will be more relaxed. Though if I come hoe between now and then to find them all cuddling, all bets may be off ;-)

Aw, I'll miss the beautiful pictures of him! It's good to hear that he's going to a good home, though.

I hope that you all don't cry too much! *hug*

I would like to pretend that I am FAR too stiff upper lip for that sort of thing.

I would be telling the BIGGEST lies!

Fingers crossed Nice Chap sends through a few photos!

That is a good thing you are doing. Little Jones is a beautiful boy. He will be Only Cat for a lonely man. And he will have a dog friend.

Good for you.

This is true, though he may not stay an only cat, but a couple of cats and their attendant dog slave can be a very fine thing, too. And yes, if Nice Chap had been less lovely, he would have been out of luck, but he seems like a very good bet.

He looks amazingly like my Gertrude, whose real name is Snowflake, because she looks like she has one on her nose. Otherwise, very similar.

It's actually much better for cats to be indoor animals. Safer, healthier, better and longer lives. My first cat was outdoor until I moved, then was strictly indoor for the rest of his life with no issues at all. While he was outdoor, he had ticks, fleas, and car grease all over once. Much nicer inside.

From: [identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com
Absolutely. Ours were indoor only until we built the cat run (which is a netted off section of our garden), we live in an almost entirely tick-free area that would be entirely except that anything is possible in this changing climate. Their little patch outside has some grass to sit on, camellias to scratch on and dirt to dig in, but they mostly just sit on the cat slings that lead down from the window and catch the breeze. Apparently life expectancies are 8 years longer for contained cats compared to free range.

If I had an outside to use, I might try a cat run. Wonder how Gertrude would like that. She's afraid of pretty much everything, even a bird-shaped soft toy that cheeped. That did not go over well. LOL

Since I doubt Monster managed to do it, who was the evil person who found Jones his lovely new home?

And will they call him Jones?

From: [identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com
The girl who first found him, damn her!

I'm not sure. He sort of answers to it now, so I will suggest it as a good idea, but cats can be convinced to answer to many names, so it will be up to him. Jones that is, Nice Chap will be at his mercy ;-)

Aw, I suspected you'd fall in love with him, he's such a cutie.
Congratulations on finding him a good home. Men who love cats are especially nice to them. (I know what I'm talking about, my brother is a total cat lover who attracts strays wherever he turns up :D)

Leo, who's purring loudly at my left shoulder, is seconding Monster's approval. *chuckles*
And Oilily, who's sitting at my feet looks happy, too.

Mr Brammers is that sort of man and it is one of the things I love about him. We can't go on a quick walk, as cats hear his voice and trot outside saying 'Patting man! You may commence your attentions! Pay attention to the chin!'

And yeah: arrival to love = about 30 seconds ;-)

Monster has been walking around going 'But, I, too, am a kitten!'

She is the size of a Golden Spaniel: possibly a little longer. I suspect Jones has been a terrible shock to her self image.

Congrats and my condolences. *lip wibble* What a beautiful little boy, with his white toes. D'aww. At least you got to steal some time with him before you had to rehome him. It's a great outcome.
I"d love to see pics of Jones and the new dog-brother together!

I may have been looking for a reason to say 'No Jones for you!' Alas, I found only reasons he should go. And yes, he's a lovely little fellow! And such a beautiful nature!

Both a sad and a positive thing..... But the remaining unanswered question is with the nice boy provide you (and us) with ongoing Jones updates? And good on you for interviewing a prospective cat owner properly :)

My workmates were in fits of laughter: they couldn't decide if I sounded more as though I was conducting a job interview or parole hearing.

I hope so! I will be encouraging them!

Doing the right thing can be painful.

It's always a wrench. Sadly, our house is just too small for the alternative solution, which is get another kitten to amuse Jones and give the older cats a break. Nice Chap said that it was one of the probabilities at his house, so it's altogether Jones's best bet.

I would not be able to surrender a kitty after as long as you've had him.

Condolences! Though the new home sounds nice, and I assume that if there is a problem the new chap will be willing to bring Jones back.
