Al Gore and the IPCC have jointly been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. I am quite happy about this; now I can face next week even if the Australian PM calls an election on Sunday.

If he doesn't announce in the next month or so, I'm going to assume that he's not going to run at all. I suppose your described scenario is possible, but I would hope that he wouldn't just waiting in the wings as a contingency plan.
