Oops

That was an unintentional hiatus … Not dead, still in possession of wisdom teeth for another week, at which point I will feel like death warmed up for a few days … Slightly worried that my garden is going to be swept away in the current flooding rains (my lovely tomatoes!) … Australian government continues appalling and morbidly hilarious … So much work still needs to be knocked on the head this month … Have watched TV and am v keen on Bluestone 42 and Sons of Liberty … Absolutely convinced that Actual Samuel Adams was not an eminently shaggable hottie.

Back soon. Summer in Australia = overloaded social calendar or ennervating heat that sucks the ability to type (move/breathe/think) out of you, neither of which is conducive to journalling.

EUROVISION!

WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

On the one hand I keep saying 'Really?!' and on the other, laughing and jumping with excitement at the upcoming hilarity.

I hope we send Kylie Minogue doing an ACDC original track.

Please vote for us.

I hope you win!

Votes! I didn't even think of that!

Given the population and audience of SBS, where it will be screened, I predict Greece 12, Italy 10, UK 8 unless someone has a truly brilliant or awful song. Or if anyone fields an ABBA soundalike, they will romp away with the Aussie points!

Good luck with the removal of your wisdom teeth. I'm looking forward to Australia's entry in Eurovision. :) Sweden have like five semi finals and then the grand final to determine the winner we'll send to Eurovision. How will Australia do it? Will there be voting or will the tv company just decide?

I have no idea, I'm afraid! Ideally, it would be something utterly ridiculous – I think the chap who did Shaddupa Your Face was Australian, I'm sure he's still alive. It's either going to be sensational or awful, but either way, I hope we can vote for other acts and thus will have live screenings!

Tomatoes do not like the rain! *nods*
I had some of them rotting away merrily a few summers past. Grr.

The Australian government is - not something nice to say about them, so I won't say anything.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2015-02-15 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I only lost one, thank goodness. I'm growing them in pots so I can move them around for better air and sun, but when they split badly, there's no coming back. Now I am looking at the ones on the plants and chanting 'Ripen you little buggers! I need to eat some of you before Friday!'

I think comedy is the only reasonable response to this government, that and rude hand gestures.

Good luck! Both on the wisdom teeth front, and the tomato front. Summer in Australia is my least favourite season. I was born for Nordic Fjords, dammit! With my lily white skin and ability to turn beet red at even the thought of exercise.

I'm with you! Though I do have a bit of genetic heritage that will bring on the brown if I can just filter it through factor 50, I am the queen of 'And now, let me display to you every pinkand red tone a human can manage!' And alas, being a non-driver, it's all walking for me at the moment (still not confident enough with the left hand for braking on the mega hills around the new house.)

One tomato lost to irretrievable splitting, the others doing OK! And Wisdom Teeth Friday is on the horizon. Boo! Hiss! Meh, a few days of blah and then they will never both me again.

I stumbled across Bluestone 42 a little while ago and absolutely love it! Will have to check out Sons of Liberty. As for Australian politics - thoroughly appalling.....that is a death spiral that they appear unlikely to pull themselves out of. Bring on Eurovision - I need glitz and amusement!

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2015-02-15 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
I am kicking myself for not watching it sooner. Have to pick up the first series on DVD this week!

Oh, I hope it's a death spiral. My great fear is that they bring Malcolm in and everyone is so relieved it's not Tony any more they get another term, which will tank the economy utterly.

And Eurovision! WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? It's completely bonkers and I love it :-)

Glad to see you continue among the living. Sorry the teeth have not yet been dealt with…dental pain is a complete misery and deserves it's own circle of hell.
The Australian government sounds like the Canadian government…though the Canadian government under Harper is less amusing than downright scary. I fear for my country, with the little fascist at the helm.

[identity profile] blamebrampton.livejournal.com 2015-02-15 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
The good news is there'sno aching at the moment, though I have a couple of teeth growing in poorly judged ways, it was only when the one that was half-in and half-out of the gum line got some infection that there was any pain. Six days of antibiotics later all was well and I was once again blessing the memory of Florey and Fleming.

Stephen Harper is political besties with Tony Abbott. It has united two great nations in our mutual appreciation of just how stupid politicians can be and how much they can dismantle. I like to think that we will all come out the other side stronger and wiser!

[identity profile] valkyrie17.livejournal.com 2015-02-17 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
I HOPE we come through it stronger and wiser (fingers very much crossed). Alas, apathy seems to be the middle name of most Canadians. They might not bother to get out and vote, and we will lose more of our rights and freedoms in the name of "security".

i hope that the wisdom teeth thing goes as well as it can.

australian politics continues to be completely baffling - in that awful way that fits the world trends. but yay queensland. at least we're trying, right? :/ whenever something happens i actually think 'i wonder how blamebrampton would explain this to her flist'. :P
