Brammers is quiet ...

I came back from Italy feeling a little unwell and proceeded to languish about (in the manner of a Puccini (or SMeyer) heroine). Which has led to my hd_hols fic being late (in the manner of a contemporary Italian train). Happily, the mods are kind (in the manner of Enid Blyton mothers).  Unhappily, I have lost my mind (in the manner of someone striding through San Francisco declaring they are Napoleon).

Last night's writing saw me spend half an hour trying to remember the name of a brand of watch (then changed my mind about including it), twenty minutes unable to recall how to spell the word perambulate (since edited out), and then I had to dig out a map to work out the broom flying times from London to Brighton (whole scene since deleted).

I grew up in East Sussex and London, am an editor, and once worked on a specialist horology magazine. If you don't hear from me for the next week or so, it's because I am poring through books trying to recall the name of that red-haired wizard who's good friends with the dark-haired one, whatsisface.

The mods are very, very kind. And dead sexy.

You don't what a relief it is to read your post, and yes, the hd_holiday mods are kindness personified. I take comfort from the fact that you have not yet forgotten the white-blond wizard's name, something Dee or whatever.

If you've tackled the broom-flighing time, I'd be interested in the results. And perhaps then we can discuss the question of where exactly may be the Malfoy's continental estates.

I always think they'd have lovely homes in Firenze, Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat and Riga, and a sweet chalet in Chamonix, which they tell people is for skiing and which is actually where Lucius is sent when Narcissa thinks he's been a bloody idiot.

And about half an hour, given it's a bit under an hour on the train and the Ford Anglia, which kept pace with the Hogwarts Express, seemed to be a bit ambling in the flight stakes.
