Three things

1. Just when I think I have a handle on how much sexism outweighs every other rational consideration in some parts, I am shown to have underestimated the situation yet again.
2. The people who are massive twunts are already being massive twunts. The rest of us need to not become massive twunts in response, but to look out for each other and just keep believing that decency will one day be a political value again. It remains the one thing that will keep us all going.
3. If necessary, I have a spare room, and we could fit tents on both the back deck and the front lawn. Hot in summer, but at least the winter is mild!

Date: 2016-11-09 07:49 am (UTC)When I looked at those people marching and looting and burning stuff I just got so scared, I know those people hate me because of my religion, and then to top it off the US decided to elect a bigot backed by their own right win conservatives and they hate me for my skin colour.
I've gone through this when I was younger, in 1997 with The Reformation when the looting masses were attacking my church (the only one in my small town). I had to duck underneath the benches, petrified. They were wrecking the windows and almost got in. When the adults managed to arrange for a truck to get us all home (there were mostly students in there, it was in the middle of the week), my brother had to cover his face because he looked visibly of chinese descent and it was too dangerous for him (me, I look brown, I could blend in). I had flashback to that incident as I watched the news in Jakarta, I've been having trouble sleeping and now this.
It just feels like there's so many hate. The world is horrible.

The world is very screwed up right now. I think the only thing we can do is to be kind, and welcoming and hope and hug. I have so much hope for you, for your country, both of mine, and for the Americans. And I'm trying to finish books to make lots of money to move us all to Iceland or New Zealand if it all goes horribly wrong.
MORE HUGS!
